Joyce Phillips, 95, rejoined her beloved Lord Monday afternoon, October 9, 2017 following a lengthy illness. She was a longtime resident of Salt Lake City with lasting ties to her extended community of family, friends and church. She was born January 19, 1922 to Harold and Geneva Nelson in Minot, North Dakota, the eldest of five siblings.
She was a professional figure skater, teaching figure skating and ice dance to many successfully competitive students over four decades. She was also an avid, championship winning golfer, enjoying the challenges of the game for over 50 years.
She is survived by a son, David; a daughter, Betty Joyce Burkhart; a sister, Mary Jo Lewis, two grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, all remember her in loving admiration.
