On Sunday morning May 29, 2016, Marian Dunn Barber, age 95, passed peacefully into the arms of our Father in Heaven. Marian was born in Salt Lake, Utah, to Rachel Emblem Burton Dunn and Llewellyn Crandall Dunn. She graduated from East High School and attended LDS Business College. On June 13, 1942, she married Max R. Barber in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they raised six children in Holladay, Utah: Joan Hayes (Phil), Marianne Rushton (Terry), Jeffrey D. Barber (Linda), Warren D. Barber (Dorothy), David D. Barber (Kandie), Lisa Perry (Stephen). She was deeply loved by her children, 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Marian served several years with the Utah Heritage Foundation and Community Development Committee of the Chamber of Commerce. She was PTA President, and served in leadership positions as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Her belief, the only true gift is a portion of yourself, was exhibited through love and encouragement of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.She loved great books, great music, great art, and especially great friends. She was an example of dignity and gracious living. We will remember her with gratitude and love. Her last months were spent in loving care from Loto Tuakalau and Alex Toledo, as well as her family.
An intimate Graveside Service will be held Friday June 3, 2016, at Larkin Mortuary.
