Herbert Lee Mount

1943 ~ 2019

Herbert Lee Mount, 75, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2019, at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, with his wife and daughter by his side. A resident of Green River since 2006, he lost a hard fought, two-year battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

He was born December 29, 1943, in Selma, Alabama, the son of Hurschel Mount and Ellen Brown Mount. He grew up in Montgomery, Alabama and Mobile, Alabama. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Alabama. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country from 1966 to 1970. Lee was married to Ginette M. Otava for 19 years and had three children. He married Katherine Misa Kitagawa in 1991. For the majority of his career, Lee was employed in industrial relations and human resources management. He was most proud of his work as a labor contracts negotiator and of the many strong working relationships he developed with union leaders and company officials all across the country. Lee retired from Sweetwater County on December 31, 2012. In April 2014, he embarked on building a two-story addition which more than doubled the square footage of the 100-year-old home he and Kathy own. His other pastimes included fishing, reading, doting on his cats, cooking, landscaping, vegetable gardening, and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Katherine Mount of Green River, Wyoming; sister Rita Warwick and husband John of Stone Mountain, Georgia; daughter Annabelle Wall and husband Jeff of Wautoma, Wisconsin; son Jay Mount of Beaumont, Texas; son Joseph and wife Sarahjoy of Ferris, Texas; and 12 grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. At his request, there will be no services.
