Donald James Arents

1940 ~ 2016

Donald (Don) James Arents, age 75, passed away March 11, 2016 in Sandy, UT. Don was born June 23, 1940 in Erie, PA to John James and Helen Smalley Arents. He married Ardella Boyter in Layton, UT. Don graduated from Gannon University in Erie, PA and earned a Master's Degree from the University of Utah. He served a short time in the Air Force. Don loved working with children and spent nearly 40 years as an Educational Psychologist for the Granite School District. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Sandy, UT. Don loved and owned many animals in his lifetime, and was an avid collector of coins, art and steins.

Don is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ardella; children, Michelle (Derek) Brookmire and Mark (Melanie) Arents; his loved and adored grandchildren, Ashley, Adam, Dylan and Carter; sister, Helene DeSitter and brother in-law, George Maslar. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen; sister, Bernadette Maslar; and brother in-law, Richard DeSitter.

Friends and family may call Friday, March 18, 2016 from 11:00am-12:30pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Lane, Sandy, UT, for a celebration of Don's life. He was a significant influence in many lives, will be greatly missed, and will always be in our hearts!
