Gayle Eldridge Taylor

1936 ~ 2016

Gayle Eldridge Taylor, 80, finished his work here on earth August 25, 2016.

Gayle was born June 27, 1936 in Salt Lake City to Orson Eldridge and Veda Cameron Taylor. His childhood was shared with his 2 sisters; Tamra Christensen, Joyce (Gary) Kennard, one brother Roger (Charlene) Taylor deceased and an adoptive sister: Judy Myers (deceased) of which Gayle was the eldest of the 4.

Gayle attended school in the Salt Lake valley as well as the University of Utah. He served honorably in the Air National Guard and Air Force reserves. Gayle also served an honorable LDS mission to Australia 1957-1959.

In 1960 Gayle married Barbara Davis and together in 1961 had a son, Kevin Gayle (Lupe) Taylor. The couple later divorced. Gayle then married his country girl M. Geneil Mower Halterman, October 8, 1964 in the Salt Lake City temple. Gayle raised Geneils 2 sons with love and compassion, Chris Paul and Troy Gordon (Jeanne) Halterman. He loved all of his sons and was a dedicated father. Another joy in Gayle's life was being a grand and great-grandfather. He adored his 5 grandchildren Aubrey (Sterling), Bentley, Kanyon, Alex and Kennedy. Grandpa Grape also loved his 3 great-grandchildren Madison, Ty and Rayne. Gayle and Geneil enjoyed 52 wonderful years together and look forward to spending the eternities together.

Gayle worked in banking for 43 years and was a gifted banker. Gayle enjoyed serving in Jr achievement and caring for the residents of Pheasant Hollow. Gayle served in numerous positions within the LDS church as a teacher, counselor in the bishopric, High councilmen and found great joy in his calling as a home teacher.

Gayle was a kind, gentle, mild man and served the Lord faithfully in kindness and anyone he came in contact with and felt their lives were bettered from knowing him. Family was everything to Gayle and his knowledge that Families Are Forever meant a lot to him. Gayle was a dedicated lifelong servant of his Heavenly Father and had a strong testimony of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Gayle loved water/snow skiing, boating, fishing and camping in their motorhome. He loved good home cooking, jellybeans and treats, and a good visit.

Gayle was a mentor and found pride in guiding young lives. The young men he mentored in ways of finance, responsibility, spirituality and hard work. He loved these boys dearly and their accomplishments in life were often celebrated alongside with our family.
