Wanda Louise (Dutton) Briggs, 79, of Sandy, Utah, passed away on September 13, 2023. She was born on January 3, 1944, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Robert Charles Dutton and Mary Amy Dean.

Wanda was a loving and dedicated woman who cherished her family above all else. She had a heart full of compassion and found joy in serving others. Her favorite color was purple, which reflected her vibrant and lively spirit.

In her free time, Wanda enjoyed engaging in various hobbies and activities. At age 14 she showcased her exceptional oratory skills by winning a church speech competition and in her thirties, she periodically played the bass guitar with a local band. She served a service mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the Bishops’ Storehouse, proudly wearing a missionary badge. Later in life; yard sales, counted cross stitch, puzzles, and card games were among Wanda's favorite pastimes as well as Bingo every week at the Sandy Senior Center. Her enthusiasm for life and her eagerness to engage in these activities brought happiness to those around her.

Wanda will be deeply missed by her loved ones. She is survived by her daughter Tammy Gibbons; and her sons Robert Bowen and Richard Bowen. She is also survived by her grandchildren Benjamin Gibbons (Courtney), Joshua Gibbons, Staci Biolo (Daniel), David Gibbons (Nicole), James Bowen (Sydney), Brandon Bowen (Marissa), Said Cruz, Louise Bowen, Nicole Bowen, John Bowen; her brother Mark Mapes; and 20 great grandchildren.

Wanda was preceded in death by her children John Dean Bowen, Kimala Pickle, Deborah Hope; her father Robert Charles Dutton; her mother Mary Amy Stauffer; her sister Amy Carolyn Dutton; and her brothers Robert Charles Dutton, Lawrence Leonard LeFave, and Daniel Arthur LeFave.
Wanda's faith was important to her, and she worshipped at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She found solace and strength in her religious community.

As we bid farewell to Wanda Louise Briggs, we remember her as a woman of love and compassion. Her legacy of selflessness and service will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Wanda always said she didn't want flowers in death, but in life. In lieu flowers please perform an act of service for another.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, September 17th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Sandy Mount Jordan 7th Ward, 235 East 9800 South, Sandy. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 18th at 11:00 AM with a viewing one hour prior to services, also at the church. Wanda will be laid to rest on Tuesday, September 19th at 12:00 noon at Ucon Cemetery in Ucon, Idaho.
