Waunell "Nell" Coleman of Salt Lake City passed away peacefully at home the evening of January 5, 2024, with her loving daughter Connie and her loyal companion Charlee by her side.

Waunell was born on November 16, 1934, in Denison Texas, the 8th of 11 children. She graduated from Lefors High School in 1954. Soon after graduation she met her husband Luther, and they were married October 8, 1955, in Clovis New Mexico. They later moved to Salt Lake City where they raised their two children Michael and Connie.

Waunell was an amazing homemaker and volunteered with the PTA for several years alongside her best friend Beverly. She later worked for Pykettes, a women’s clothing manufacturer until her retirement in 1994.

She was a remarkable woman who touched many lives with her kindness wisdom and humor one of the most striking things about Waunell was her unwavering dedication and devotion to her family and friends she always went above and beyond to support and care for family and friends and oftentimes strangers.

Her love, laughter, wisdom, and spunk will most definitely be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Some of her favorite things were family, friends, children, animals cooking and the Utah Jazz. In honor of her please go live your best lives and spread love to everyone you meet even if it's as simple as a smile.

She was preceded in death by her parents Edgar Davis Crutcher and Edna Esta Crouse, husband Luther, son Michael, seven brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her daughter Connie, two granddaughters, one grandson, and seven great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Julia for her assistance, love and support during this difficult transition and the staff at Inspiration Home Health and Hospice.

A viewing will be held on Friday January 19, 2024, from 10:00 to 10:45 am at Larkin Mortuary (260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah) with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be held at Utah Veterans Memorial Park (17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale Utah). There will be a celebration of life at Cactus & Tropicals (2735 S. 2000 E. Salt Lake City, Utah) later that evening from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
