Arthur Kureghian

1929 ~ 2015

Arthur Kureghian, 85, of Draper, Utah passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday morning, January 27, 2015.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00pm, on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, Utah. Graveside services will immediately follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.

Arthur was born September 27, 1929 in Tehran, Iran to Mouradkhan and Ashkhen (Der Sarkisian) Kureghian. He attended the University of Tehran and studied abroad at Sorbonne in France during the summer. He came to America in the early 1960's. Arthur was an accomplished artist. He worked in the abstract with various mediums. His artistic abilities have been recognized in the Smithsonian American Art Museum's archives. He has a sculpture displayed in the Hyatt Regency Chicago Hotel and at Northwestern University. In 1976, one of his paintings was placed in a time capsule in Joliette, Illinois to be opened in 2076. Arthur loved his work as an architect designing commercial and residential buildings as well as designing iron works. He was an amazingly talented and gifted man.

Arthur is the beloved father to Melineh Black (Bill) and Raffi Kureghian (Demi) and grandfather to Preston, Brittany, Lenna, Raffi and Natalia Black. He is also survived by his former wife and dear friend Verna Kureghian, the mother of his two children.
