Wendy Lee Campbell Richardson

1951 ~ 2022

Wendy passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on July 15, 2022. She was born April 18, 1951, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Serge Lang Campbell and Betty Lorraine Cahoon Campbell. She married LeGrand Wayne Richardson in Salt Lake City. Wendy's medical issues started in 1986, when she was diagnosed with a large brain tumor at the young age of 35. She persevered through cancer treatment and continued to live a mostly normal and productive life, aside from some disabilities. The radiation effects started to cause trouble for her later in life, and the last 10 years her body began to rapidly decline.

Wendy loved shopping, decorating her home, and spending time with family and friends. Shopping was a favorite pastime of hers and she would often plan outings with her mom, sisters and daughters. Earlier in her life, she graduated from Granite High School in 1969. She started her career at Holiday Inn Nationwide Reservations, which gave her the ability and inspiration to travel all over the US and Mexico. She met her husband LeGrand the day he returned home from the Navy. They were set up on a blind date by their two best friends Shauna and Robert. This coming November 9th would be their 50th wedding anniversary. Her husband's career gave them the opportunity to live in many different places: Salt Lake City UT, Los Angeles CA, Portland OR, and Denver CO. Everywhere she went Wendy accumulated lifelong friends. She was beloved by all who knew her. Many of her closest friends were childhood friends.

It broke our hearts to lose you
but you didn't go alone.
For part of us went with you
the day God called you home.

Wendy is survived by her husband LeGrand W. Richardson, her daughter Amy (Will) Israel, daughter Britney (James) Roberson, her grandchildren Olivia, Addison, Mason, Madeline, Everett, Hazel and Gracie. Surviving siblings are Mike Campbell and Michelle Campbell Petersen.

Wendy is preceded in death by her son Tyler Scott Richardson, her mother Betty Campbell, her father Serge Campbell, and her sisters Robin Shorr, and Lori Butterfield.

Graveside Services will be held Friday July 22, 2022 at 2:00pm, at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, Utah 84092, where friends and family may visit from 12:00 – 1:45pm.

Legrand and family,
First, thank you for allowing me to spend time with your beloved wife and my friend in July. I have so many memories of the three of us girls living together just after high school. You have a lifetime of memories together. In the quite time when the pain is hard to bare, may the Lord be your shelter, and fond memories your comfort. Karen and family

Dear LeGrand, Michelle, Michael & Family,
I am saddened by hearing that Wendy has left you. She is such a sweetheart. She was always kind with Lori and I, even though we were just her little sister and her friend.
I live in Minnesota now, but I was in Utah on the day Wendy passed. I wanted to contact family members again, but didn't know how to find you. 'Potato' & 'Mushroom', I would be very happy to connect with you, dusklizard@gmail.com.
Best wishes, my friends. Grieving and healing are hard work. You are in my prayers.
Sincerely, Lenna Karren Neilson
