Wesley Arthur Cox passed away in the company of his loving wife at the age of 85 on July 3, 2024 in South Jordan, UT. He was born December 3, 1938 in Hillsdale, IL. His family moved to Seattle next door to Sherry's home, and they became best friends at age 10, the beginning of what would become.

He converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in his late teens. Wes and Charlotte “Sherry” Martin were childhood sweethearts and were married and sealed for all eternity on September 16, 1958 in the Logan temple. Wes was a loving husband to Sherry and the proud father of six children.

Wes earned his Bachelor’s from the University of Washington, and his Master’s and Doctorate in Computer Science from UCLA. Wes served in the Air Force from 1961 - 1981 working on space and missile systems and taught at the Air Force Academy, retiring as a Major with many military honors. While in the Air Force, the family lived in California, Colorado and Massachusetts. After leaving the Air Force, they lived in Utah and Michigan with his primary occupation computer programming, specializing in automation of factories and warehouses. He finally retired to West Jordan, Utah.

Wes had a passion for genealogy, singing in barbershop performance groups, skiing on both snow and water, beekeeping, raising goats, gardening, hiking, fishing, and traveling. He built a camper on the bed of a truck, 2 red canoes from scratch, a makeshift sailboat out of one of the canoes, and bat houses. He completed basements, painted houses, tiled bathrooms, and installed wood stoves. He truly was a man of many talents, hobbies and interests. He was an active member of the church holding many different callings. His favorite calling was scoutmaster where he thoroughly enjoyed the long hikes with the young men, teaching them outdoor skills passed down from his father.

Wesley is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Sherry; children Jerry (Amber), Brian (Jeannette), Brenda, Dale (LeAnne), Trina (Francis) McAllister, and Lori (Aaron) Gregory. Wes is blessed with 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Wesley was preceded in death by his parents Clinton and Lillian Cox, sisters Janet Kegel and Doris Johnston.
