WILLIAM EARL “BILLY” WARNER
February 2, 1936 to July 27, 2022
In Loving Memory

Beloved father, brother, uncle and devoted friend to many, our Billy passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2022. Billy’s enthusiasm, laughter and bright spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of being a part of his life.

Billy was born in Salt Lake City where he attended South High School. At 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country proudly while stationed in Guam. Upon his return he married and experienced the joy of fatherhood with the birth of his son Alan. He later remarried and his beautiful daughter Stephni was born in 1964.

Billy’s professional life was primarily in the garment industry and real estate where his humor and ability to make friends effortlessly served him well. Billy moved to Mesquite in 1996 where he met and married the love of his life and soul mate, Sharon M. Olin, with whom he spent the happiest years of his life until Sharon’s death in 2006.

Billy was an avid skier and served on Ski Patrols throughout Utah for 17 years. He was an active sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and camping. He also enjoyed gardening and bird watching with a particular affection for humming birds which he fed every morning on his patio in Mesquite.

Billy began golfing at the age of 45 and that passion led to his developing the masterful skill of designing and building golf clubs. What began as a hobby led to his attending Golf Smith School through which he obtained a Certification in the National Club Makers Society. During that period he was working at the Casa Blanca Golf Course where the Virgin Valley High School boys and girls golf teams trained. He became like a grandfather to the team members and whatever the kids needed over the years Billy was there for them. Every kid on the team, year after year, had a piece of Billy in their bag, whether it be clubs he built and donated to team members, outfitting, adjustments, regrips, etc. In 2008, for the first time in the history of the VVHS Golf Team, Billy was appointed as an honorary member of the team.

In short, Billy was a loving, caring and generous man who had the heart of a superman. He believed everyone had a person in their life that they remembered as helping them along the way and he wanted to be that person. He brought a bright light, love and laughter into the world and left all of us he touched with many wonderful memories.

The family wishes to express their extreme gratitude to Gabrielle Zarate and her family for their devotion, love and special care they provided to Billy in the last year of his life. We also extend special thanks and gratitude to neighbors Sue Hanks and Charlie Keller, and Billy’s best lifetime friend Rex Shepherd, whose unwavering commitment to and love for Billy brought him much happiness, through good times and bad.
