“By air, land and sea, pursuing happiness.”

William “Willie” Edward Gatti, 60, died unexpectedly July 30, 2021 in Salt Lake City, UT. He was born March 29, 1961 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the first son of Horacio and Nelida Gatti.

Willie graduated from St. Brendan’s College in Buenos Aires, Class of 1978. He met Emilia when he was 27 and they married shortly after. In 1989, they welcomed their first child, Fred. Later they moved to the US, where Willie worked for an automotive research and development company in Southern California and made several lifelong friends and worked on award-winning projects. In 1994, they were blessed with a daughter, Victoria. In the following years, Willie acquired his private pilot’s license and enjoyed flying his family to Catalina Island. A career opportunity with 3Form led Willie and his family to plant new roots in Utah. This new chapter allowed him to travel the world near and far and experience a wide spectrum of cultures and cuisines. Willie later worked with Texaa based in France, which provided him the opportunity to fine tune his palate and grow his love of wine and les belles choses de la vie. In his free time, Willie loved riding his motorcycle with his beloved Emilia cruising through the Cottonwood Canyons and later with the Piratas del Asfalto (his riding buddies), taking his sailboat, the Dragonfly, out on the Great Salt Lake and donating his time to Volunteers in Police Services with the Sandy City Police Department. Willie also loved spending time in nature and camping with his family and friends in their motor home.

He was predeceased by his father, Horacio, and his dogs, Floppy, Lala, and Delilah. He is survived by his mother Nelida P. De Gatti, wife Emilia, his children Fred and Victoria, and their partners, Katie and Peyton; siblings Marcela, Laura and Franco, Fernando and Carmen; nieces, nephews and great nephew. He is also survived by his beloved beagle, Winston, 16, and his handsome grand-dog, Oatti, 4.

Even if you only knew Willie for a short time, he made an impact on your life. He was often described as generous, selfless (always looking for a way to help his friends and family), witty, valiant, inspiring, hard-working, and inquisitive. Most say they were lucky to know him. He had a contagious smile, bigger than life personality, and always entertained new and old friends with his gifted storytelling. He was admired for his kindness, tenderness, creativity, and positive outlook on life.

Emilia and her family would like to sincerely thank all of Willie’s amazing medical teams at Huntsman Cancer Institute, Intermountain Medical Center, and Utah Cancer Specialists, especially Dr. Jonathan Whisenant, his oncologist and friend of 10 years. The family is very grateful for the rest of Willie’s healing team: Dr. George Cannon, Dr. Don Cannon, Dr. Sarah Menacho, Ron Young, and Willie’s Truth Seekers group. Emilia would also like to thank her CHG Healthcare Legal Family for their love, support, and generosity.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 6, at 11 a.m., where a gathering will begin at 10 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, Le Jardin, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road (10600 S.), Sandy, UT 84092.

My heart is so heavy hear that Willi has left this earth. I had the pleasure of working with him at 3form. He was an innovator with a wonderfully creative spirit. He was an absolute joy to work with. I learned so much from him. A piece of him will always stay with me. Love, light, healing and peace to all those he has left behind.

Dear Emily,
I loved Willie a lot. He was one of the most creative humans I’ve ever met, and the perfect combination of brains and heart. He inspired me to be a better person, and will continue to do so. He believed in me; he supported me without judgement; and taught me about solving problems in out of the box ways. I always enjoyed the times we got to spend together Emily, though few and far between, your whole family is a truly special crew. I’ll be watching the service from afar, and thinking of you. Willie’s memory will always be a blessing.
With love,
Jenny

Willi.

I was shocked to hear of Willie’s passing. I am so sorry . Willie so positive and full of life and just so on point competent.. I last spoke called him about 3 years ago, his warmth came through the fiber optic network. I was called to ask a question and as always he had time to talk, laugh and give me an answer and a direction. I worked with closely with Willie at 3form and his positive approach, influence and mentoring and just problem solving smarts and flawless execution made what seemed impossible possible. Willie was not just positive. He handled a very difficult project in CT with an exacting subcontractor. He could handle tough because he was tough and was so through. Willie turned the project around in Stamford, made it work and was friends with the sub Pete who asked for him. Willie was a man among men and some current and ex 3formers will remember toast his life in New York City next Wednesday. Thank You Willie I will miss you and Emilia I am so sorry. We never met but you and family were always woven into Willie’s stories

- Rob Healey

To Willy´s family and beloved ones my most sincere condolences. It´s difficult to explain mine and other of Willy´s friends feelings in Argentina. To put it simply, I do not remember phoning so much male friends and crying while sharing lots of good memories of another one. Willy was exceptional among the few who shine out. I always thought he had the three "A's" which are needed to be meaningful in life.
Aptitude to have the capacity to change things.
Attitude to believe in himself and in that he could change the reality.
Action started by oneself to change the world.
But to that he added one more quality, a human one, yet one who spoke about his spirit of kindness; and that is his sensibility to understand the needs of others. And when he sensed one, he acted to fulfill those needs. I was surprised one day when after a virtual meeting with ex school-mates, he told me we should start a spiritual virtual meeting group. I had those needs, but doubted others would share. Willy was 100% accurate in his view, feelings and actions again. These few past days I found he had contacted many more about this, before starting a group, which today helps some of us, not only spiritually but sharing our feelings of loss for him passing into the realm of the lord.

As always he was more advanced than us, and thus he was chosen to show us an immense example of courage, faith and peace in his new "astral voyage" - as he said-.

Peace to him, love, and comfort, to those he loved; be sure he still is with us.

To you Willy; only the thought, that your memory and presence, will walk with us, till we find ourselves in the pastures of the shepherd; sooths my pain. See you again, anytime soon Cristian.

- Cristian Miguel Alonso Sisini

To Willie's family, please know that he was so loved and appreciated by the Volunteers in Police Services for Sandy City Police Dept. I represent the group as their secretary and can recall many meetings and events and projects that Willie attended. He was a delightful man and we will miss him dearly.
