Harley Dwayne Nelson

1942 ~ 2013

Harley passed away on July 30, 2013 in Murray, Utah. He was born September 18, 1942 in Nampa, Idaho to Lester and Marie Nelson. He grew up on the family farm in Melba, Idaho and is the youngest of 6 children. Harley was an active athlete in Melba High School where he lettered in football, basketball, baseball, track, and was also an FFA member.

Harley moved to Salt Lake City after graduation and went to work at Albertson's where he soon became a manager. He continued his growth by owning a delivery business for Dunford Bakery and later building two of his own "Harleys" restaurants. In his later years he carried on by selling insurance.

In Harley's younger years he enjoyed hunting, bowling, and tennis at the Canyon Racquet Club. He was an avid golfer at Mountain View Golf Club. He truly enjoyed having a nice garden that his close friend Roger Hatfield helped him with. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was a deeply loved father and grandfather and had many loving friends.

Harley is preceded in death by his parents, brother Lester Nelson, brother-in-law Roy Hoagland and niece Sherry Nelson. He is survived by his daughter Shannon Nelson (Russ) Trutzel, son Shawn (Christy) Nelson, grand-daughters Kaitlin Trutzel, Makayla Nelson, Shandra Pulley, grandsons Cody Pulley, Ryan Trutzel, Justin Nelson, brothers Danny (Marty) Nelson, Larry Nelson, sisters Marge (Roy) Hoagland, Patti Nelson and sister-in-law Georgia Nelson. He is also survived by many close and loyal friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy. Friends may visit one hour prior to services.
