Jackie Lynn Boulton Hatch

1951 ~ 2016

Jackie Lynn Boulton Hatch, our tenacious mother, wife, daughter, and sister passed away September 15, 2016, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born October 13, 1951, to Jack and LaVon Boulton in Salt Lake City. She married Paul David Hatch August 2, 1974.

Jackie graduated from Hillcrest High School and later earned her nursing degree from Brigham Young University. She worked as a nurse in the thoracic unit at LDS hospital, then took time off to stay at home with her four sons, John, Jeff, James, and William. She returned to nursing at the Surgical Center at Cottonwood Hospital and then Intermountain Medical Center, where her coworkers are counted among her dearest friends. The patients assigned to her were rewarded with a kind, compassionate, generous soul who oversaw their care with ebullient goodness.

She loved the outdoors, especially golf, and often said if she could golf everyday she would be completely content. Over the course of her active life she enjoyed skiing, boating, hiking, and just being outside. She took great pleasure in the sunlight and in tending to her flowers and yard. She tackled home projects that would overwhelm most mortals and finished them with skills learned from her father. She loved learning new things and merrily embraced new hobbies, from brewing her own Limoncello to building a kayak this year with dreams of tackling the rapids.

Jackie moved to her neighborhood in Holladay in 1977. She raised her family there and made wonderful friends whom she loved and who loved her back. She was a proud member of the LDS Church but she had a fierce moral code of her own making, irrespective of religious teachings. She reveled in being a grandmother and gave more minutes that can be counted to patiently playing games with the little ones she let scamper freely through her home. She was passionate, opinionated, thoroughly honest, decent, caring, and fun, with a booming, infectious laugh. We will miss her in a way that words cannot express.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jack, and her older sister, Penny Williams. Survived by her mother, her children John (Emily), Jeff (Jen), James (Chanele), and William, her younger sister Sherri Petersen (Todd), five grandchildren she adored, and countless friends and extended family.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 19, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to services. Online condolences welcomed at www.LarkinCares.com.
