Sharon Thelma Bjorkman Chase

1934 ~ 2014

Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Sharon Chase, was freed from her mortal body on February 19, 2014 due to complications from a fall.

Sharon was born April 27, 1934 to Arthur Eugene Bjorkman and Thelma Hawkins in Los Angeles, California. She grew up in Long Beach and attended Poly High. She married Donald Earl Chase on June 18, 1952 in the Salt Lake temple. They had four children which they raised in the Westminster/Garden Grove area of Orange County. She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with her husband from 1996-98 in the Chicago, IL area and later in the South Salt Lake mission.

She was a vivacious, outgoing woman who made every part of our lives more fun and enjoyable when she was there. She was a lover of music and taught herself to play the string bass, cello and ukulele. She had a fine alto voice and sang in many choirs, but especially loved directing her ward choir. She wrote and directed several ward road shows. She loved quilting, sewing, flower arranging and card making. She worked for many years as a medical secretary and transcriptionist, and was a master of the IBM Selectric typewriter.

Her family and her faith were the most important part of her life. She was a valiant and enthusiastic member of the LDS church and served diligently in many church callings.

Sharon is survived by her son Kevin, and two daughters, Marcia (Wilford) Whitaker, Mindy (Ralf) Lorenzen and one granddaughter, Rachel (Joseph) Schutz. She was preceded in death by her son, David, her husband Don and her brother Arthur.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 24 at 11:00 AM at the LDS chapel at 6710 South 1300 East in Midvale, with a viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 AM. Online condolences welcomed at www.larkincares.com.

The family would like to thank the staff of Alta Ridge Assisted Living and Millcreek Hospice for their kind and loving care of our dear mother.
