Our beloved father and grandfather, Mailoni Ron Tupou, passed away June 4, 2014 at the age of 71, reuniting with his wife, Sinai Tauanga Tupou, who preceded him in death on November 15, 2013, and two daughters, Alisi Tupou Lolohea (2003) and Valencia Sally (1990).
Our father was born August 8, 1942 in Matahau, Tonga, to Semisi Faaoso Tupou and Lupe Tavo Tupou. He and Sinai were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 13, 1975. He was a loving and hardworking man. He lived to provide for his family of six children. He was a member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings. He enjoyed working in the Salt Lake, Jordan River and Los Angeles Temples, and especially loved teaching Sunday School.
Mailoni is survived by one brother, Vilami Tupou and three sisters, Vaesiu, Sosefina and Alisa, who reside in Tonga. He is also survived by his children, Lupe (Fifita) Manu: Alissia Sally and Lute L., Simiki (Vika): Sinai Kryskatay Alicia, Mailoni James, Leinata Katyanah Leakehe, Alisi Katalina and Amylia Brookyln, Semisi Fa'aoso (Falepogisa), and her baby Valencia Sally Tupou Manu.
A viewing for family and friends will be held Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 6-11 pm at the Rose Park North Stake Center (1200 W 1200 N) and Monday, June 9, 2014 from 7-10 am at the Riverside Ward chapel (660 N. Redwood Rd), followed by the funeral service at 10:00 am. Interment to take place at Redwood Memorial Estates (6500 S. Redwood Rd). Online condolences at www.larkinmortuary.com.
