Shannon Dale Rowe

1978 ~ 2014

It is not often that a person finds an individual who has the ability to inspire you to want to be a better person. That is who my father was. Tragically, sometimes bad things happen to good people... people with the sweetest intentions...

Shannon Dale Rowe, 36, of Twin Falls, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the University of Utah Hospital. He was born in Andrews, Texas, on March 22, 1978, to Donal and Dorinda Long, who had five children: Shane, Shannon, Casey, Shawna, and Sabrina. Shannon and his older brother, Shane, were later adopted by Dale and Janet Rowe. They moved to New Mexico where they joined their new siblings, Ricky, Alan, Paul and Crystal Rowe.

Shannon attended high school in Grants, NM, and Spring Creek, NV, before moving and settling in Idaho. After graduating from Lineman College, Shannon worked in the electrical field for several years before finding his home with Idaho Power as a lineman. He formed close relationships with his co-workers such to the point that they became his brothers and sisters. Shannon had an amazing ability to quickly make people love him, and his charisma created life-long friendships that will not be forgotten.

Shannon was blessed with four strong children: Wyatt, Daisy, Jesse, and Chance. He cherished his time with his children, and they remained close to his heart even while they were apart. The loss of Chance Rowe was devastating for Shannon, but he used that sadness as motivation towards helping others.

One of his greatest joys was helping people… he would do anything to help anyone. Shannon volunteered much of his time to multiple organizations to benefit children, one of which was a program called Elev8, created by Shannon and his ex-wife Melissa Rowe (Chance's mom). Shannon also enjoyed mountain climbing, biking, camping, boating, fishing, hiking, and traveling.

Shannon is survived by his children, his biological brothers and sisters, Shane (Natalie) Rowe, Casey, Shawna and Sabrina; his adopted brothers, Ricky (Bernie) Rowe, Alan (Patty) Rowe and Paul (Diane) Rowe; his adopted sister, Crystal Nickelson (Chris Black); and his adopted parents, Dale and Janet Rowe, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his biological parents; and his son, Chance Rowe.

The memories we have with Shannon will forever be with us. Remember Shannon whenever you find yourself on the Las Vegas Strip or at the beach… his favorite places to get away from it all...

A celebration of Shannon's life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at the Boys and Girls Club of Magic Valley, 999 Frontier Road in Twin Falls, Idaho.
