Brian Keith Reid

1966 ~ 2017

Our beloved Brian Keith Reid graduated from this life, surrounded by his family at home, on Friday August 11, 2017 after a courageous battle with small cell cancer. He never gave up.

Brian was born on May 27, 1966 to Lela Marie and Jay Keith Reid in Bountiful, Utah.

Brian served an LDS mission to Seoul, Korea and fell in love with the Korean culture. He opted to spend several years after his mission teaching English there.

Brian worked for the Salt Lake County Health Department for 16+ years where he did housing inspections. One of his family's favorite memories was the tour of his inspection area.

In December of 2009, Brian married his sweetheart and love of his life Kelly. They welcomed a son Ryker in 2011 and were sealed as a family in the Salt Lake Temple in 2016 for time and all eternity.

He was the most kind and relaxed person. He made anyone who met him comfortable. A constant complaint from his wife was that her friends didn't want to spend time with her, they wanted to hang with Brian.

Brian loved sports, but most especially BYU athletics. He knew every facet and statistic of BYU and was an avid reader of "cougarboard". Brian also loved the Utah Jazz, the Dallas Cowboys, and golfing. Many a golfing story to be told.

Brian loved music, especially 80s music. He could tell you the name and artist of any 80s song. His wife spent many hours trying to stump him, but he always won.

Brian played the guitar and could pick out any tune. He loved trying new techniques on the guitar and would love to supplement his creations with his keyboards. A true 80s man.

Brian is survived by his wife Kelly (Powers); son Ryker; sisters Kathi (Craig) Roberts and Janet; and his brother Steve; as well as many nephews and relatives. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Gayle, and both maternal and paternal grandparents.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 11 am at the South Mountain Ward House, 607 E. Rocky Mouth Ln, Draper, UT 84020. Viewings will be held at the Ward on Thursday from 6-8 pm and Friday at 9:30 am. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens. In lieu of flowers, wear blue for BYU.
