James had a way of making people love him without trying, he also loved nothing better than a great exchange of words and ideas. He served proudly as a sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He volunteered for years with Meals on Wheels and the Democratic party in various roles. He was a construction site superintendent for Kerbs Construction, building Albertson\s and fast food joints all over the Western US. A long-time member of the Carpenter\s Union 1507. In his later years he loved to tinker in the garage building various things. A lover of printed words, he was never without a novel on his side table favoring historical novels. He took on the role of guardian of his local bird feeders, he also rescued many dogs and cats over the years that became family members. We will miss his kind and witty sense of humor that was always a part of every conversation.
