Barbara Fullmer Despain, 89, passed away peacefully on Sept. 29, 2014 in Sandy, Utah surrounded by her family. She was born June 15, 1925 in Salt Lake City, UT to Willard Linnell and Emma Gabbott Fullmer. She attended South High School and Brigham Young University. While at BYU, she met Verl and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on May 4, 1950. They just celebrated their 64th anniversary.

Barbara was a very active member of the LDS church, serving in many callings in the Primary and Relief Society. One of the most cherished times of her life was working with Verl in the Salt Lake temple for 15 years where they took a prominent role as ordinance workers.

She enjoyed sewing and needle work, and thrived at making a loving home to raise her five children. She always had time to visit with family and truly cared about each of their lives. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Verl A. Despain, sons; Gary F. (Kay) Despain, Lynn V. (Mary Jane) Despain, daughters; Karen (Bob) Byard, Janet (Ron) Jones, son-in-law, Stewart (Kim) Hewlett, 22 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren

Preceded in death by her daughter, Kathryn Hewlett, parents, one brother and four sisters.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014 at 12 noon in the Eastridge 7th Ward, 1020 E. Sunburn Lane (11600 S), Sandy, UT with a viewing 1 hour prior. A viewing will also be held for friends and family on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014 from 6-8 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S. Sandy, UT. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.
