Hugh J Sorensen, 93 passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015 in Carlsbad, California. He was born May 13, 1921 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of James C. and Ivy Louise Redford Sorensen. He married Alta Lorraine Nielson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Dad "The Builder" built many buildings, and many people's lives with his inspiring, encouraging, kind and caring wisdom and in his faithful service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was devoted to his family, to his country and to his Father in Heaven. He enjoyed traveling, appreciated God's handiwork, and loved good music.
Hugh is survived by his eight children. Pat Morris, Carolyn (Ken) Millard, Barbara (Kip) Williams, Linda (Graham) Burns, Dale (Debbie) Sorensen, Julie (Rod) Rogers and Kent (Carol) Sorensen and 53 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alta, his parents and his five siblings, two sons-in-law, and a daughter-in-law and friends too numerous to count.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary (2350 E. 1300 S., Salt Lake City). A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Condolences can be shared at www.larkinmortuary.com.
