Sidney Gene and Marilyn Ann Spencer Harris

1935 ~ 2015

Marilyn's prayers were answered and she followed her sweetheart of 65 years just four days after he left this life.

Sidney Gene Harris, age 82, passed away November 7, 2015, and Marilyn Ann Spencer Harris, age 79, passed away November 11, 2015 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Sid was born June 1, 1933 in Evanston, Wyoming to John William Harris and Abigail Thompson Harris. Marilyn was born December 15, 1935 in Evanston, Wyoming to Adrian G. Spencer and Lila Cook Spencer.

Childhood sweethearts, they married on March 1, 1954 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Sid worked for many years at Salt Lake City's Water Department. He served his country in the Army during the Korean conflict. Sid was a very kind, thoughtful person. He had a lifelong interest in art, especially drawing and painting. He faced difficulties with uncommon patience and determination.

Marilyn worked for many years at the University of Utah. She was a very kind, thoughtful person who deeply appreciated beauty both in nature and the visual arts. Marilyn had a special respect for those "who tell it like it is."

Sid is survived by one brother, Charles, of North Ogden, Utah, and two sisters, Helen Kennedy of Evanston, Wyoming and Karen Mote of Sunset, Utah. Preceded in death by brothers James and Kenneth. Marilyn is survived by two brothers, Paul Spencer of Salt Lake City, Utah, And Lee Spencer of St. George, Utah. Preceded in death by sister Lorna Hutchinson. Sid and Marilyn together have 27 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah at 11 am. A viewing will be held at 10 am prior to services.
