Robert Wade Maddox

1930 ~ 2015

Passed away May 12, 2015 in Provo, Utah. Robert was born on February 18th, 1930 in Springfield, MO to Ralph Earl Maddox and Vesta Ola Young. He earned a Masters degree in Library Science from Brigham Young University. He loved the outdoors and hiking every trail up and down the Wasatch Front. He married Peggy Lee Maddox in the Salt Lake Temple on December 20th, 1963 and also gained a daughter Kathryn. In 1967 they moved to Moscow, ID where he worked at Moscow University's library department. In Moscow they also gained a son Samuel. In 1973 the family moved back to SLC, UT where he worked for the LDS Church Genealogy department. In the 1980's and for the rest of his life he struggled with deteriorating mental illness but more often than not maintained a bright smile that reflected his warm, kind, friendly personality.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and daughter. He is survived by his sister Rosalyn, son Samuel (Darren), his son-in-law Andrew, grand daughter Elizabeth, and 3 great grandchildren Medina, Hazel, and Andrew.

A viewing will be held at Larkin Sunset Lawn 2350 E. 1300 S. SLC on Saturday May 16th at 12:00 noon followed by a grave side service at the same location at 1:00pm. The family would like to thank the staffs and professionals working at Provo Rehab and Nursing, Crosslands, and especially Federal Heights for 13 years of excellent care.
