George Orvile Brockbank

1925 ~ 2016

George Orvile Brockbank, age 91, our loving father, grandfather, hero and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep. He was born in Butte, Montana and was a long time resident of West Jordan, Utah.

George was known for his quick wit and great attitude. He was a friend to all. As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, George served in many positions including Scouting, High Councils, Bishoprics and Temple Worker. He was proud to serve in the Navy during World War II.

He married his sweetheart, Ina Olive Gardner on September 15, 1947. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. George worked for Jordan School District for many years. When he retired, he found joy in his wood working shop creating great treasures for family and friends. George also enjoyed working with his friends at Tiny Tim's Workshop making toys for children in third world countries. He always had a kind word and a joke for everyone. We will miss him greatly.

He is survived by his 5 children, Kent (Diane) Brockbank, Susan (James) Denny, Gail (Lynn) Bateman, Gerald (Colleen) Brockbank and Grant (Kaye) Brockbank, 20 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Preceded in death by his wife, father William Smith Brockbank, mother Elizabeth Ann Telling Brockbank, 3 sisters, 1 brother and 1 great grandchild.

The family wishes to thank Victorian House Assisted Living in Levan, Utah for the loving care given to George over the past 7 years.
