Shanni Elton Staker

1942 ~ 2016

"Please remember me, happily, by the rosebush laughing."

Our dear mother, grandmother, sister and friend Shanni Staker passed away on July 27, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born August 31, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Leonard William Elton and Nona Petty. She is reunited in death with her son, Steven Gary Staker, whom she missed dearly.

The joy of her life was her grandchildren and family. She loved watching her grandson Marshall play lacrosse, her granddaughter Riley play volleyball, and attending plays with her granddaughter Sarah. Shanni served as Executive Vice President in the documentation leasing industry for 30 plus years. She loved her work and was respected and admired by her coworkers and those she mentored. She loved watercolor painting and created many beautiful works of art. She was always quick to point out any tiny flaws in her artwork and was humble in every way. She enjoyed vacationing with her family and spending time with her dear friend Elaine Mitchell. Her interests included playing piano, sewing, golfing, camping, and watching the Utah Jazz. She was a member of the Catholic Church.Thanksgiving will never be the same without her stuffing and her yearly declaration that "It's not good this year, too much salt." It never had too much salt.

She is survived by her husband Gary W. Staker, children, Angela Staker Serzen (Roger J.) and Shelly Staker, grandchildren, Marshall R. Serzen (Macy A.), Sarah A. Serzen, and Riley J. Staker, sisters, Rosemarie Milne (Duane), Rosalie Henriod (Jerry), and Tina Waters (Blake).
