Billie M. Downey

1927 ~ 2014

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Billie M. Downey, passed away at home on Friday, July 4, 2014 in West Jordan, Utah. Billie was born on April 29, 1927 in McGlen, Oregon to Alvin A. and Dorothy I. Belville Trolin. She married Russell K. Meyers in 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

In moms younger years she learned to sing opera with her aunt Lena and was a model for Ben Marche and ZCMI from the age of 16 to 20, modeling fine furs. She worked at Albertsons/Fresh Market as a customer service representative for 20 years and loved it so much that she decided to finally retire at the age of 82. Mom was a wonderful seamstress and crafter. She enjoyed activities such as gardening and bowling and at one time was the Bowling League President, she also enjoyed dancing the styles of Ballroom and the Jitterbug, which she often danced with her older brother Chuck. Mom was an animal lover and also had a love for traveling, she especially enjoyed the trips she took to Wendover with her daughter and friends. We will miss her dearly.

Billie is survived by her daughter Patricia Pezely; grandson Travis L. (Kim) Meyers; great-grandsons Russell L. Meyers and Nathan L. Meyers; Sister-in-law Carol Christensen; Brother-in-law Paul E. Meyers, many nieces and nephews and a special son Nick Pezely. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Chuck and Arnold Trolin; one sister, Dorothy Linke and loving companion Star.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial gathering which will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 from 12:00 noon ‚ 2:00 p.m., at the West Jordan II Apartments, at 7832 South 3200 West, West Jordan, Utah. Interment will take place at a later date.

The family would like to thank, Caregiver Support for all their help, especially Nancy, Kendall, Joan, Robert and Ruth. They would also like to thank everyone at Billie's apartment complex who helped Billie, especially Sharron, Mary, Tammy and Estelle.
