Affectionately referred to as "Rose" by her loving husband.
Joyce, age 84 of Sandy, Utah passed away peacefully Monday morning.
She was born September 23, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ernest and Maude Harwood. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert C. Child.
Her career included managing a dress shop, working in the school lunch program and as a receptionist in the psychiatry department at the University of Utah. To all of her friends at Atria, thanks for your friendship and love that was shared by all. Mom made a great Sunday dinner, especially her beef roasts and made sure everyone had all they could eat. She spent endless hours letting her granddaughters do her hair, makeup and fake nails and trying on her numerous wigs. Bob and Joyce were married 67 years and spend 18 of those years in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1962. She was a good mother and wife and supported her family in all that they did. Joyce was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints and held many callings.
She is survived by sons John (Shelley) Child, Sandy, Utah.. Steve Child of Murray, Utah and Jesse Holiday of Monument Valley, Utah. She has ten great grandchildren and two great-great grand children.
Funeral services will be held Saturday August 17, 2013 at 11:00 am in the chapel at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary located at 2350 E. 1300 S., Salt Lake City, Utah. A viewing will precede the funeral at 9:30 am. Interment is at Sunset Lawn.
