Glenae Turley

1966 ~ 2014

Glenae Turley is a remarkable person. She was born in Mesa, AZ to Don and Martha Turley, the fourth of nine children and second of five girls. Although one of a large family group she distinguished herself by taking a different route from time to time.

All five of the girls played sports, especially softball. Four were pitchers, Glenae was a catcher. The family was very musical and four of the girls played the violin, Glenae played the cello and bass. She distinguished herself as a multi-sport athlete, and in youth leadership roles.

Glenae has always looked to serve and care for others. She served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in La Paz, Bolivia ‘88-'89 to bless the lives of people with the gospel of Jesus Christ, and she chose a career path of caring for those in need of comfort and aid. She remained a faithful member throughout her life where she served in numerous callings and excelled in teaching the youth.

She achieved a fire science degree from UVU and spent nearly 20 fulfilling years as a Paramedic/Firefighter for West Jordan, South Jordon, AirMed and 15 years with Murray City, which became her extended family. She was honored with many awards and recognitions for her service, expertise and lifesaving skills.

As if being a paramedic/firefighter was not enough, she also earned her Registered Nurse license, an accomplishment of which she was very proud.

Glenae was anything outdoors. She loved to ride her ATV and motorcycle, camp, hike, swim, scuba, kayak, bike, rappel, bungee jump, ski and board. She enjoyed gardening and canning food. Her passion was Emergency Preparedness and Ham Radio.

Cancer took her away too soon from the people she loved, and those who loved her. She is survived by her sisters Gay, Genie, Gennifer, Genice, and her brothers, Guy, Greg, Gary, and Geoff, as well as 28 nieces and nephews, countless friends, co-workers, and those she treated, helped, and served. Her parents preceded her in death.
