Rose Romero Mojica

1925 ~ 2014

Rose R. Mojica was born April 30, 1925 in El Valle, New Mexico to Guillermo Romero and Matilde Trujillo Romero. Married Angel Mojica in 1945 after they met in Sante Fe New Mexico. Rose worked at the Commerce while Angel was enlisted in the Army. She lived in Kearns, Utah her whole life and was very independent, many times holding down two jobs up until she retired in 1987.

Rose was a devout Catholic and went to church daily when possible and faithfully every Sunday. She was well-liked by all the members at her local Catholic church, St. Francis Xavier. Rose loved to host Mexican fiestas, her chile verde and tamales were requested by everyone. The grandchildren all remember tagging along with Grandma Rose when she would ride the bus downtown. Rose was very popular with the other passengers on her normal bus routes. Every time the kids would board the bus they were ready for a new adventure. When the grandchildren played sports Grandma Rose would be in attendance, she was everybody\s biggest cheerleader. Grandma Rose rarely missed a baseball game, soccer game or a karate match. Rose was a wonderful story teller. Many of her stories and jokes are still popular with the grandchildren today and will likely be passed on to the next generations. Rose has several grandchildren and great grandchildren that she helped raise over the past 51 years. Everyone will fondly remember Rose\s generosity. She welcomed everyone into her home as if they were close family. She never hesitated when giving those in need a place to sleep or an extra few dollars.

It wasn't until she reached her mid 80's when she would need a little extra help. She is preceded in death by her mother and father and one daughter Elba Mojica and a granddaughter Nicole Rose Mojica. As well as her brothers and sisters. Older brother Florencio and twin brother Reuben, sisters: Prescilla Fernandez, Lucille Mascarenas and youngest brother Raymond (Leo) Romero. She is survived by her brother Candido Romero. Children Lorraine Mojica, Pauline Nelson (Danny), Julia Mojica, and only son Michael Mojica. Grandchildren; Lori Schofield, Tom Schofield, Dani Nelson, Julie Nelson, Burke Nelson, Chris Christofferson, Lisa Christofferson, Jillian Puttuck, Michael Mojica Jr., Cache Mojica, Gabrielle Mojica and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Rosie you will always be loved and missed. To all who knew her please say a prayer for her loving spirit.

Our gratitude goes out to St. Joseph Villa and the many home health professionals that helped our loving Rose in her final years. A Catholic Mass and private services will be held closer to what would have been her 90th birthday in the Spring of 2015.
