Sean Samuel Barnhurst

1968 ~ 2019

Sean Samuel Barnhurst, age 51, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away at home on

December 8, 2019, after a lengthy battle with heart disease. Sean was born September 26, 1968, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Burr Oberhansly and Marie Horrocks Barnhurst, the eldest of six children. He grew up in Sandy, Utah, where he attended Alta High School and Valley High School, graduating from Valley. Sean's passions in life included recycling anything and everything possible. He could often be seen helping neighbors put the correct items in their recycling cans. At one point in his life, he had his own cleanup and recycling company, which he thoroughly loved doing.

Earlier in his life, in the 80s, he worked for several big-name rock groups on their road crews, driving the trucks with all the necessary equipment and helping with setup at concerts all over the world. He knew everything about virtually every rock group that ever existed, and loved to share that knowledge with everyone. Sean has always been a very hard worker. No job was to small or unimportant or too big for him to handle. He worked with our family in two separate businesses, learning screen printing in one, and then how to recycle all metals in our auto repair business.

Sean also has a talent for making friends wherever he goes. He loves to serve others, especially in our own neighborhood. He is well known for cleaning up yards and gutters up and down the street and for bringing popcorn tins around to many neighbors every Christmas.

Sean is survived by his parents, his siblings Aaron, Nathan, Aimee (Rob), and Daniel (Michelle), sister-inlaw Stephanie, his nieces and nephews, his sweet dog Alfred, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Christopher, his grandparents, an aunt, and a cousin. What a sweet reunion he will be having with all those loved ones! He will be greatly missed by all who knew him here.

We want to especially thank Dr. Edward Gilbert and the entire heart team at the University of Utah Hospital/Medical Center for their devoted and highly skilled care of our Sean. Because of them, we enjoyed 25 years of Sean that we would not have otherwise had.

We love you, Sean. We will so miss your deep, booming voice, not to mention all the tasks you covered around the house on a daily basis! Funeral services will be Monday, December 16, 2019 at the LDS chapel at 1265 E 11000 So, Sandy. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing at 11:00 am followed by the services at noon. Internment will follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E 10600 So, Sandy.

We want to thank Jeff, Josh, and Vicki and all the staff at Larkin for their kind and compassionate

assistance.
