T. Dean Spackman

1919 ~ 2016

Thomas Dean Spackman passed away peacefully from this life on November 16, 2016 of natural causes. He was born June 22, 1919 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah to Aldean Burnham and Thomas Spackman. He graduated from Provo High School in 1937. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Ward on November 18, 1939 in Farmington Utah.

Dean served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific in World War II, 1944-1945. After 31 years of service, he retired from the State of Utah Division of Wildlife Resources as the Assistant Chief of Law Enforcement. He was awarded the Wildlife Officer of the year in 1979. Dean and his step-father-in-law, J.L. Casey Bown, also Fish and Game/Wildlife Resources, instilled a love and respect for the outdoors in our family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother Paul and his eldest daughter Sherrie Lou Spackman Morley. He is survived by his wife of 78 years, Dorothy, sons Michael (Claire), Richard (Suzanne), Robert (Jeannie), daughter Susan, son-in-law Roy Morley, and sister Linda Brown, 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Viewings will be held onMonday November 21st, 6:00 ‚ 8:00 PM andTuesday November 22nd, 9:00 ‚ 10:30 AM, followed by a remembrance service from 10:30 ‚ 11:00 AM at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment and graveside service will take place at the Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State Street, Provo Utah,November 22, 2:00 PM.
