1923 ~ 2025
Yuki K. Ajioka, age nearly 103, passed away peacefully in the presence of her four children on December 3, 2025. Yuki was born on Terminal Island, San Pedro, California to Shintaro and Chiyono Koda on January 22, 1923. She was the youngest of six children and doted on by her older sisters Toshi and Haru. Her father was a fisherman and her mother sewed her a vest using fishing net corks to keep her safe near the water. During World War II she and her family were sent to a relocation camp in Jerome, Arkansas. She married John Ajioka on November 18, 1944 and raised her family on a small fruit farm in Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Yuki loved music and had a large collection of Broadway musical records. She taught herself to play both the organ and harmonica and later played in the harmonica band at the Sandy Senior Center. At the Senior Center she enjoyed many activities including ping pong, yoga, as well as multiple arts and crafts. Yuki loved jigsaw puzzles and there was always one in progress. Once completed, she would have a picture taken and immediately start on a new one. For the last two years she resided at the Covington Senior Living center in Farmington where she made many new friends and continued to participate in exercise classes, arts and crafts and games. Yuki is survived by her four children, John, Gordon (Margarita), Marsha Yamasaki (Ray) and Richard (Nousheen). She is also survived by five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Internment will be held privately with the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Covington Senior Living center, 430 S. Brookside Drive, Farmington, Utah 84025 < info@covingtonliving.com> in Yuki’s name.
Yuki was my favorite card game playing companion at Covington! She always showed up and was always so pleasant! I am missing her but I know she is happy right now. You are always in my memory file! Love, Darleen Thompson
