Sim Kuen Yu was born in Guangdong, Taishan, China on July 12, 1930. She later moved to Hong Kong where she would meet her husband and start her own family. In 1975, Sim and her family immigrated to the US and eventually called Sandy, UT their home. During the spring and summer months, Sim was often outside tending to her garden, full with a variety of vegetables and fruit trees. She was dedicated to her family and loved to cook and bake for them, especially during the holidays when the house was full and filled with laughter. Her six grandchildren whom she loved dearly were her pride and joy. Her love was shared with all those around her and was equally reciprocated. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Preceded in passing by her late husband Hou Yu, Sim passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones October 13, 2017. She is survived by her five children Kenny Yu, Rebecca Ng, Collin Yu, Tony Yu, and William Yu, along with their spouses. Her six grandchildren include Nathan Yu, Christopher Ng, Vivian Yu, Cecilia Ng, Brian Yu, and Lilly Yu.
A viewing will be held Friday, October 20, 2017 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral services will take place Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11:00am. Friends and family are welcome to arrive early to spend last moments with Sim beginning at 10:00am prior to the services. Both services will take place at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) Sandy, UT.
