Yvonne Monson Parry died peacefully at the age of 95 in Heber, Utah surrounded by her loving family on the night of December 11, 2023. She was born on September 14, 1928, in Goshen, Idaho to Virgil LaMar Monson and Laura Gladys Christensen Monson.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Utah on June 13, 1950. She earned a Secondary Teaching Credential with a major in speech and double minors in English and music. Yvonne married her soulmate, Lloyd H Parry on June 13, 1951 in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Yvonne was a talented teacher and reading specialist and helped many children learn to read and enjoy books during the 30 plus years she taught in Utah and California school districts. She was deeply loved and admired by her students and was respected by her peers.

She loved her family and was devoted to her faith. She served diligently in her church as a missionary in the Concord Family History Center, ordinance worker in the Oakland Temple, Sunday school teacher, and Cub Scout Den Leader. She balanced her time between family, church duties, and her teaching career.

She had a green thumb and was meticulous in tending her beautiful gardens. She also enjoyed meeting new people and seeing new sights and had the opportunity to travel extensively. She appreciated good music and was talented on the violin, flute, piano and organ. She was also an accomplished dancer.

Guestbook/Condolences

To Yvonne’s children:
I loved your mom, shared a birthday with her, and had wonderful traveling experiences for several years. She is the one that got me started traveling.
Yvonne was a lovely woman, friendly, courteous, and very social. If you were in a room with her, you would soon be acquainted with her because she always had something in common.
In lieu of flowers, I will be making a contribution to Huntsman cancer in Yvonne‘s name.
I am so happy to celebrate her life and grateful she went peacefully. We all know where she is and that she’s having a marvelous time reuniting with everyone.
My love and condolences to you.

My memory of Yvonne is of a sweet very smart and gorgeous woman. She was so graceful and a true delight. She would laugh at my lame attempts at humor and always played along with uncle Lloyd and I sharing a first name. She could put a party together in a hot minute and I am sure she is doing so right now. She will be there tomorrow so please be happy and celebrate a truly remarkable righteous life. We are sad to be unable to share this time with family but we are serving mission in California. All our love Lloyd and Virginia Parry

I have had the privilege and blessing of ministering to Yvonne for the past year. She is a delight! (And I use the present tense because her spirit is still alive and she IS everything she was and much more!) She was always pleasant, positive and interested in me. I learned that she is a woman of many talents, accomplishments, deep faith, service and selflessness. She talked of her family each time we visited and how she loved them dearly. It was a sweet and tender time when I could be with her often in her last week of life. (reminding me of my 96 yr old mother's passing 3 yrs ago) When I asked Yvonne what she wanted most for Christmas, she said, "To be with my family." So, I have no doubt that she will be with her family during Christmas, on earth and in the spirit world, and will continue to be watching over and rejoicing in her loved ones. Yvonne has blessed the lives of countless many people and I am blessed to be one of them. I will miss Yvonne deeply, but I feel a sense of peace and happiness for her as she doesn't have to deal with the challenges and limitations of mortality, aging and illness. She is rejoicing in her reunion with dear loved ones who have gone before her and in her Savior and His Plan of Salvation and Exaltation. Well done thou good and faithful servant. All is well with Yvonne. Til we meet again!
