Mary Louise Smith Stark

1930 ~ 2015

Mary Louise Smith Stark was born on March 29, 1930 in Englewood, Colorado to James George and Ada Irene Nichols Smith. She passed away on July 23, 2015 at the home of her daughter. She was raised in Logan, Utah and graduated from Logan High School. She married Verl Leon Stark in the Logan Temple on June 3, 1949. He preceded her in death on September 22, 2011.

Mary Lou worked for Valley Bank and Trust and later for Granite School District as a secretary in personnel. She enjoyed golfing, knitting, embroidery, making quilts, watching sports (Rockies and Utah Jazz), shopping, bowling, sewing, and reading. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in numerous callings. Some of her favorites were as a Stake Missionary with her husband, YW President, Stake YW Presidency, and sports director. She also enjoyed going camping in a trailer with her family, and accompanying her husband to many Wood Badge Courses.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Maurice, Rulon, Evalyn and Ray. She is survived by her sister, Duchess Creger, and her brother Jim Smith (Lola), children: Debbie Otteson (Dennis), Skip (Brody), Randy (Jill), Cory (Sheryl), Carrie (Brian) Campbell, 22 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren and Kathy Stark. She is also survived by her step daughter, Pam Stark, her three children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 South), Sandy, UT on Friday, July 31, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 1,2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Valley Park South Bldg., 5233 South 3200 West in Taylorsville, UT with a viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 prior to services.
