James Brian Fletcher

1953 ~ 2018

James Brian Fletcher passed away on March 5, 2018 surrounded by family. He was born on October 13, 1953 in Murray, Utah to James Robson Fletcher and Verna Ann Franson, the second of eight children.

He attended BYU, where he met his sweetheart, Lori Ann Broman, at a ward Family Home Evening. They were married in the Los Angeles Temple on May 5, 1977. They raised six children, Gena, Anna, James, Linnea, Brian and Robson.

Jim worked for Delta Airlines for over thirty years beginning in Air Freight and ended his career as a Ticket and Gate Agent. He had a special ability to talk to anyone wherever he went and treated everyone as if they were his best friend.

Jim was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had a strong testimony of his Savior. He served faithfully as a missionary in California, and in various other callings, including the high council and as a temple worker. He loved to teach the gospel, especially to the teenagers in his ward, challenging them to gain their own testimony of The Book of Mormon.

Jim enjoyed fishing and sports, but football was his passion and had season tickets to BYU football for over 25 years. What he loved most in this life though was his family. He was so proud of his family and boasted of his wife and children to anyone who would listen. His grandchildren were the lights of his life and they knew who would give them a cookie before dinner while their parents weren't looking.

Jim fought a long and courageous battle with kidney failure doing whatever he needed to do in order to stay with his family as long as possible. He had struggled with the disease since high school and was on dialysis for thirteen years. He never gave up and fought to the end.

He is survived by his wife, Lori, his children, Gena (Pete), Anna, James (Melinda), Linnea, Brian (Kelsey), Robson (Katie) and six grandchildren. The family would like to thank the Shock and Trauma ICU Team at IMC Hospital and South Mountain Dialysis Center for their kindness and compassion.
