Darlene Kathryn Atherley Barker

1923 ~ 2016

Loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away July 30, 2016, after several years of struggling with Alzheimer's.

Darlene was born to Hugh and Kathryn Atherley, June 22, 1923, in Eureka, Utah. She married Wilford Westman, later divorced. Married Jack T Barker. She is survived by her children Hugh A. Westman, the best caregiver and friend a mother could ask for, Joseph (Diane) Barker, Nancy (Robert) Defa; grandchildren: Shawn, Robby, Jack, Jana and Rick; and great grandchildren: Shauntae, Jessica, Sam, Sebastian, M'Kinley, Josie, Tinley and Ryzee.

Preceded in death by her parents, late husband Jack, sister Dorothy Kendrick, many aunts, uncles and friends.

Darlene moved to Salt Lake City during WWII and worked at the Small Arms Plant. She got married and was a house wife to her loving husband and a devoted mother to her children. Later in life she worked for JC Penney's, Leon Brown floral and IMAC. She loved the people she worked with and had fond memories and made good friends.

She loved her yard and flowers, and received recognition in the Salt Lake Tribune for her beautiful yard which her neighbors enjoyed when they went for their walks and passed by her house.

Darlene was a beautiful soul and could always put a smile on your face and enjoyed socialization with people and friends. Right before she left, her great granddaughter was saying goodbye to her and she winked. Her last cute wink will always be remembered along with the beautiful life she lived. We will always love you and love knowing you are not suffering with pain or fear, and you are at peace.

Rest well our beautiful Darlene, we are happy you are being embraced with our Lord and you are one of His beautiful angels in a better place. God bless.
