Ana Mae Christensen Bender, our sweet and devoted mother passed away Monday, May 23, 2016 in Lakewood, Ohio surrounded by loved ones. Ann was born April 3, 1933 in Provo, Utah to Lewis Glen and Vernie Rasmussen Christensen.
Ann attended Utah State University and graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Elementary Education. She was a much beloved teacher at Garfield and Dilworth Elementary schools. She truly loved and cared for her students.
Ann married Donald J. Wilson, later divorced. Married W. Gene Bender, they shared their lives for forty-three years. Ann was active in the LDS church her entire life and served in many positions. She was always extremely inspiring in the classes she taught. Ann loved to serve. She and Gene served two Church Service Missions together. Ann made hundreds of puff quilts to give to new moms.
She is survived by her daughters Jenean (Don) Carlson and Cheri (Tom) Colligan, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Parley's Sixth Ward Chapel 2350 South 2100 East in Salt Lake City. Visitations will be held Monday evening from 6-8 pm at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South and one hour prior to the services at the church. Online condolences welcomed at www.larkincares.com.
