Listen to Obituary

Connie Lee Peacock Wilson, age 82, passed away on the afternoon of May 6, 2024 after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer, surrounded by her loved ones. Goodbyes were difficult, but we are grateful she has been released of her physical pains and ailments. Our family is so proud of her for showing us how to do ‘hard things’ with her positive attitude and enduring smile.

Connie was born December 3, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah to James Ronald Peacock and Blanche Eliason Peacock. She was the third of five children. She grew up in Salt Lake City but also spent a lot of time in Idaho and Montana. She graduated from South High School. Connie was a candy striper for LDS Hospital and also attended Comptometer School which then helped to land a job at Zions Bank. Throughout ‘grandma’s’ life, her check-book had to be on to the penny or she couldn’t sleep. While Connie was an amazing house wife and mom, later in life she did work at Gregory’s Toy’s, Health South, BBB Dental and Plastic Design.

Connie met and married the love of her life, Randall Jenkins Wilson and together they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by President Gordon B. Hinckley on August 21st, 1964. Her and dad bought their first home on Browning Avenue in Salt Lake City. They wanted to start a family but during her first pregnancy, she suffered a seizure due to toxemia and their baby boy Randall only lived a few hours. She later delivered two beautiful girls, Holly and Melissa and then a son Ryan. They eventually moved to the Cottonwood Heights area where they had their fifth and final child, Richard. They spent the majority of their lives in this home with their four children. They were members of the Butler 9th ward and made many friends and wonderful memories. After Randy’s passing, Connie moved to Riverton to live with her son and his family where she spent the last 19 years of her life. She made numerous friends in her new wards, Monarch Meadows and River Rose. Our family is deeply indebted to the kindness, love and support of the River Rose ward during her battle with cancer. We simply could not have cared for her needs without their countless acts of service.

Connie adored spending time with her family doing various activities including, river running, camping, hiking, ATV’s, snowmobiling and sports activities. Her and dad spent summer after summer white water rafting different rivers with family. One of mom’s favorite camping spots was Fremont Indian State Park where her and dad spent a lot of time. After receiving news that her cancer had metastasized, she wanted to take a special trip to Fremont with her family one last time and we were successfully able to do that. It was her most favorite trip, in her words.

She was an avid card player and loved to be with her friends that she found at the Riverton Senior Center playing canasta. We are so grateful to her friends that would come and pick her up and take her each week to play once she stopped driving. She loved word games and puzzle books. If you ever happened to play her in Words with Friends, you probably had more than one game going with her and found yourself losing most of the time.

One of Connie’s favorite roles was being a grandmother. She treasured her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved watching her grandkids play softball, basketball, baseball, dance and soccer. She was a huge fan of the Utah Jazz and loved to watch the games with her grandson. She was also named ‘Team Grandma’ on her granddaughter’s soccer team, where you could regularly hear her yelling as loud as she could, “Boom it!” She absolutely loved being their grandma and supporting them.

Connie had a firm and powerful testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held numerous callings. You would often find her doing her personal study on the couch with her scriptures open and using her iPad to listen to podcasts for Come Follow Me. She not only studied, but she lived the gospel by her actions. She was one of the very kindest, loving and genuine people you could ever come across. She could love anyone and find a reason to smile at them and make them feel special, just by being her. She had a compliment for everyone. Connie knew the importance of the temple and her family was a number one priority. She loved the temple and knew of its importance to be sealed as eternal families.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband Randall, her parents, her siblings Marilyn and Arlen Peacock and her infant son ‘little’ Randy (Randall), her twin grandson’s Jesse and James Lloyd and Douglas Wilson. We know mom is basking in the wonderful reunion with her loved ones and meeting her son for the first time.

Connie is survived by: Holly (Jimmy) Lang, Melissa (Daniel) Lloyd, Ryan (Heidi) Wilson, Rich (Tori) Wilson and 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, sister Sandra Southern, brother Jim Peacock (Ilene).

Our family would like to thank Debi and Veronica and the entire Bristol Hospice team for their amazing care, love and support of not just mom, but our entire family.

In lieu of flowers, the family would kindly ask that you carry on her tradition of serving those around her, and honoring those who regularly served her, by serving others in any capacity you wish, allowing her legacy to carry on.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Friday, May 10, 2024 at the Herriman Stake Center, 5562 West 13680 South in Herriman, Utah. Viewings will be held at the same location Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 6-8PM, as well as Friday prior to services beginning at 10AM. Interment will follow in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.

Funeral services will be streamed via Zoom for those wishing to attend virtually.

It was a privilege and a joy to have met Connie. We can see the legacy of love that she has passed down to her family by the love and service that all of you have shown us in the past and continue to show us. We are sorry for your immediate loss but know there will be a day when you will all be together again.

Words cannot express the love we have for Connie and for all of you. It was certainly my privilege and my beautiful duty to help her be as comfortable as she could, and to pass over to the other side into loving arms of her family. But the loving arms I saw came from you who cared for her in her last days. Thank you for being the wonderful family that you are. May the Lord‘s greatest blessings of comfort be yours. Our family wishes your family great comfort and grief support by the Lord ministering angels. We love you, Wilsons❤️
