Linda Lou Anderson Bennett

1942 ~ 2018

Linda Lou Anderson Bennett, 75, our sweet wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, was called home on May 2, 2018 due to complications of Alzheimer\s disease.

Linda Lou was born June 15, 1942 in Chehalis, Washington to Garnett and Iler Anderson. She married Robert Bennett on August 25, 1961 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Together they are the proud parents of 6 children, 24 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

Linda Lou was an only child and fortunate to grow up in the outdoor wonderlands of Washington. Adored by her parents, and surrounded by her extended family, she often found herself climbing trees, riding horses, water and snow skiing, fishing, camping and even caring for her pet dog and bear! She also managed to win several beauty pageants and model for Frederick and Nelson department store.

Linda Lou was raised by her parents in the Lutheran faith. At the age of 17 she was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by a friend and soon became a baptized member. She then attended Brigham Young University where she was known to all as "Misty." She met Bob Bennett her freshman year and the couple married the following summer.

The next phase of life took their family around the country to Southern California, Virginia, Connecticut, Massachusetts and eventually back to Utah. True to her nature, she made many lifelong friends everywhere she went. Along the way she loved being a homemaker. She made motherhood the focus of her life, including being a mother-figure to many. She loved the Relief Society and serving those around her.

It's truly impossible to paint a portrait of her amazing life in just a few paragraphs. She was (and is) one of those extraordinary, guileless souls that radiates love and kindness. People were drawn to her like a magnet. She had no enemies. Everyone was her friend, and if they weren't... they soon would be! Her wit was quick, her laugh was infectious, her energy and enthusiasm boundless. She made all family members believe they could accomplish anything, and that she was their greatest fan.

Linda Lou's childlike wonder about the workings of the world was always on display. She loved learning about everything, including cooking, gardening, painting, travel, photography, decorating, quilting and sewing—just to name a few. Soon she was able to find great joy in sharing her knowledge and expertise with family and friends. But she wasn't perfect—she never did learn how to get the millions of photos she took, off of her computer, to share with the rest of the family!

But perhaps Linda Lou's greatest love and legacy is evident in the lives of her children that she influenced; faithful followers of Christ, married in His temple, raising righteous families and living lives of service. The blessings of her choices and example will ripple forward and backward through generations forever.

Many have wondered why this wonderful woman was called home so early. With her healthy lifestyle, positive disposition, zest for life and excellent "longevity genes," we expected her to outlive us all. We will miss her, but we know she has been wrapped in the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, and has received His long-awaited words, "well done thou good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord."

Linda Lou is survived by her husband Robert Bennett, her children Keri Lynn (Kurt) Herrmann, Troy (Liz) Bennett, Nicole (Brian) Wistisen, Jessica (Travis) Williams, Candice (Daniel) Smoot, and Chelsea (Spencer) Madsen. She will also be missed by her 24 grandkids: Caitlin, Rachel, Spencer, Tessa, Chase, Tanner, Nathan, Jared, Cedric, Brynn, Makenzie, Austin, Gavin, Alexis, Skyler, Ethan, Anna, Victoria, Amber, Lauren, Evan, Tyler, Christian and Bennett; as well as her 6 great-grandkids: Cole, Quinn, Tad, Luke, Brady and Liam.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018 at the Mountain Oaks Ward house, 11570 South Wasatch Blvd in Sandy, UT. A visitation will be held Sunday evening May 6th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy, and Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please plant something in your own garden in memory of Linda Lou.
