Listen to Obituary

Glen Armand Dolberg, age 81, passed away on May 22, 2025 in Riverton, Utah. He was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Daniel Dolberg and Gladys Elizabeth (Betty) Fisher Dolberg on December 5, 1943.

Glen’s family moved frequently so he lived in 20 houses during his school years from Michigan to California. He graduated with honors from Turlock High School in California. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a BA in German, then served for 2 ½ years in the Berlin and North German Missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Returning to BYU he completed a master’s degree in German Language and Literature.

He taught German for 3 years at Ohio University, during which time he married his sweetheart, Bonnie Kathryn Baer in 1969 in the Oakland, California Temple. They moved to Davis, California where he completed a PhD in German Language and Literature. He taught German, English, Linguistics, Religion, and Humanities at San Joaquin College in Stockton, California for 30 years. He also served for 8 years on the Stockton Unified School District Board of Education. They were blessed with 5 children.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served in many ward and stake callings, including Stake Clerk, High Counselor, Bishop, and Branch President, but his favorite calling was as a teacher. Glen and Bonnie loved to travel, and he organized 21 student trips to Europe with Cultural Heritage Alliance. After his retirement in 2007 he began giving lectures on cruise ships. For the next 13 years he and Bonnie enjoyed 61 cruises as a lecturer, in addition to other travels. In 2013 they moved to Herriman, Utah. They paused cruising long enough to serve a senior mission for the Church in the Family and Church History Headquarters Mission in Salt Lake City from 2015-16, serving in the Family History Library. In his final years he devoted much of his time to genealogical and temple work.

Glen is survived by his wife Bonnie and sons Daniel (Meggin), David, Paul (Amee) and Peter (Jessica), 18 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joan, daughter Emilee Ellis (David), and grandson Jonathan Ellis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025 at the Blackridge Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5623 Mirabella Drive, Herriman, Utah. Guestbook/Condolences

Bonnie,
Becky & I send our deepest condolences and prayers for the family. We are so blessed to have met and enjoyed you and Glen when you came to Florida and we took you both to St. Augustine for the day. That was a great day. May God comfort you and your family and reassure you that Glen is with Jesus and has no more pain. Love you

- Donnis & Rebecca Hinz

Our sympathy to the family and friends of Glen.
A memory I'll share is a few years ago Glen and Bonnie were on a trip to CO. They came to our home to visit and exchange pictures, newspaper clippings, writings, etc. for the family history work. As the afternoon went on, I asked them to stay for dinner. We enjoyed having them.
May God take care of you and those you love and keep you safe.

- A cousin, Doreen(Dolberg) Ward

It was my honor and privilege to minister to Glen, while doing our work in the Oquirrh Mt. Temple. You both will be my eternal friend. I love you.

- Gary L. Kunz

My condolences to you and your family. You both are so wonderful. I have learned a lot from the two of you. Brother Dolberg always had a smile no matter what. The two of you have been such a great example to me. Sending you love and hugs.
