Glen M. Stoddart, 79, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026 in South Jordan, Utah, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of strength, love, and service.
Glen was born on March 15, 1946, to Herbert M and Norma Bain Stoddart in Salt Lake City, Utah. He grew up in the Rose Park area of Salt Lake City, where he participated in many activities, including swimming, diving, basketball, and baseball. He especially enjoyed the position of catcher on his baseball teams. Glen graduated from West High School and attended the University of Utah, where he met his sweetheart of almost 56 years. He and Margaret Ann Seyfarth Fetzer were sealed for time and all eternity on March 16, 1970, in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Glen spent his career as a civil engineer and construction project manager. His colleagues remember him not only for his expertise, but also for the patience and kindness he brought to every project. He worked on many meeting houses and facilities for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, worked on various projects for the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory, and worked and consulted on various water purification and other projects.
Glen and Margaret raised their family in Sandy, Utah where they became pillars of the community and cultivated many of their most cherished, lifelong friendships. Their home was the heart of the neighborhood, loved by all for the warmth and hospitality they provided. Later, they brought that same spirit to South Jordan, where Glen quickly turned neighbors into dear friends. He had a rare gift for connecting with people and also brought the steadfast devotion to foster those connections for decades.
Glen deeply cherished his wife. They were a devoted team, walking hand-in-hand through the joys and challenges of parenthood, teaching their children about the value of faith in Jesus Christ, hope, hard work, selfless service, and finding joy in family. Glen’s unwavering devotion to Margaret was the center of his life; it was evident in his gentle care, respect, and affectionate daily acts, as well as his good-natured teasing to make her laugh.
Glen and Margaret understood that a strong marriage was built in the quiet, everyday moments. They found great joy in spending the simple rhythms of life together, whether competing on the bowling lanes, sharing a peaceful walk, or enjoying the theatre. Together, they traveled across the country and created a lifetime of treasured memories. They especially loved the beautiful beaches of Maui and Kauai, Hawaii.
Of all his many achievements, Glen’s greatest joy and deepest pride was the family he and Margaret built. As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather he remained intimately woven into the fabric of their daily lives. He fostered a one-of-a-kind bond with each family member, using his own language of jokes, songs, and cherished nicknames to make them feel special. There was never a doubt in anyone’s mind that they were specifically and deeply loved by him.
Glen was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a young man, Glen served a 2 ½ year mission in South Africa. In recent years, his time as a Branch President to a South Jordan retirement home was a crowning season of his service. He formed deep bonds with those he served, offering a tender and personal devotion. He served valiantly in numerous capacities and regularly sought out opportunities to help and comfort individuals and the overlooked. Glen had a strong faith and testimony in Jesus Christ and His redemptive and healing power. His life was defined by kindness and compassion, and he loved others without exception.
Glen was preceded in death by his father, Herbert, and mother, Norma; his sister, Kay; and his brothers, Kent and Bruce. He is survived by his sweetheart, Margaret; his children, Scott (Nancy) Stoddart; Julie (Jeff) McDonald; Nicole (Matthew) Gamette; Jeffrey (Katie) Stoddart; Heather (Richard) Christensen; and Ashlee (Joshua) Casperson; 23 grandchildren and their 11 spouses; 11 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Lynn Stoddart.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff in the Intensive Care Unit and the 10th Floor at Intermountain Medical Center, as well as Inspiration Hospice for their compassionate care and unwavering support during Glen's final days. Your kindness provided comfort not only to him but to our entire family.
