Obituary

Gregory Edward Johnson, 65, of Riverton, Utah, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 30, 2026, with his family by his side.

Greg was born on August 27, 1961, in Payson, Utah, to the late Fred and Deanna (Taylor) Johnson. He was the devoted husband of Traci Johnson for the past 30 years.

Greg graduated from Spanish Fork High School with the Class of 1979. Baseball was one of Greg’s greatest passions. He played for his high school team for three years and carried his love of the game throughout his life.

After high school, Greg continued his education at trade school and became an electrician. He went on to own and operate his own electrical company for 28 years. He took great pride in his work, and the dedication and love he poured into his career will live on through the many memories he created and the stories that will continue to be shared.

Greg also had a deep love for the outdoors, especially fishing. He found great joy in spending time on the water, whether fishing at Strawberry Reservoir or enjoying the beauty and adventure of Alaska. These moments in the outdoors were some of his happiest, and the memories he made there will be treasured by his family and loved ones for years to come.

Greg also enjoyed cooking and loved mastering the art of barbecue. He took pride in creating delicious meals and sharing them with his family and friends, making good food and great memories along the way.

In addition to his wife, Traci, Greg is survived by his children, Macord Johnson; Christopher Lamb and his wife, Chelsie; Jenifer Shepherd and her husband, Derrick; Spencer Lamb; and Braeden Johnson. He was a loving grandfather to his six grandchildren, who brought great joy to his life.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Deanna Johnson.

I will greatly miss Greg and his friendship. His hard work and love for being an electrician and doing a great job. Will for ever be a part of Westminster and the years of hard working he put in there. I will miss being able to call him up and talk to him about electrical work I need done. It did not matter what problems we would come to him with, he would always have away to solve it. If he could not solve it on the spot, I could count on him to come up with a solution cut sheets and an idea to make it better. He always paid attention to details and making it look great. He was a true master at his craft.
Traci, Thank for sharing him with us. He was a great man he will be greatly missed.
Greg Rest In Peace my friend.

Growing up Greg became part of our family, with the recent passing of my father. I have been reflecting on past experiences which always includes Greg I fondly remember all the Lake Powell trips on the last night of school as well as the spring break trip when we had to drive through a blizzard to get to Powell. We cooked Pancakes over an open flame and ended up eating more dirt and grit than pancakes. We would also spend weekends waterskiing at Flaming Gorge, Baseball was also life for both of us in the spring and summer months As the seasons changed we would spend countless hours snowmobiling. At that time Greg occasionally had a lead foot especially when we were listing to classic rock at full volume, he only got a couple of speeding tickets which he was not to happy about.
Unfortunately, I lost touch with Greg after I moved out of the state to pursue my career. I as well as my family mourn his passing and want to pass on our condolences to his family and friends

Dad! Thank you for choosing me and loving me the way you did. Teaching me all the things I needed to know and for always answering my calls asking for help or your advice. You taught me so much in this life that I am forever grateful for. We talk about you every day and will always continue to. You left such an impact on so many of us, we were all so lucky to have you.
The girls miss grandpa, we all do.
We love you dad and will continue to love you, miss you and keep you alive through all things you have taught us and I know you still will.
Never goodbye just see ya later. One day closer to seeing you again.

It was a privilege knowing and working with Greg. I was fortunate to have interacted with him as a trusted contractor and friend. Greg conducted business with unbending scruples and his attention to detail was unmatched. He possessed keen intellect while dealing with the world of electricity - always performing his job the correct way; never taking the wrong or easy way out ...
Greg's friendship with me and the Westminster College community was routinely reliable and 1positive! He, for many years (mostly single-handedly) saved the college from making unnecessary expenditures for both small and large projects. I'll never forget Greg's enthusiasm and excitement while sharing his knowledge about electrical power ...
But, I fondly recall, most of all, Greg's eyes lighting up whenever he spoke about his family. I truly thank the entire Johnson family for sharing Greg with us. I'm quite sure Heaven will be pleased to have him!

I’m so glad I got to know Greg and working with him when I was at AMSS and up at Westminster University. He was such a great guy and very smart at his job. We would talk about work and cooking all the time. I’m going to miss this amazing guy and all the great things he did at work and for his family. I will always remember you Greg
