  • Janice Corey Zitting, age 70, passed away due to complications with COVID-19. She was lifted from this world peacefully, surrounded with family and love. Janice was born October 1950 in Las Vegas, NV to Marilyn and James Corey. She grew up in Las Vegas alongside her younger sister Sandra and younger brother John. Her artistic talents were cultivated at a young age and her art was displayed prominently throughout her home growing up. Janice attended Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, followed by BYU. A quick learner, Janice excelled at numbers and took speed reading courses.

In 1971, she moved to Long Island, NY to open a salon for the woman who invented the silk wrap nail. She taught others to do nails, as well as set up and managed the books for the business. Janice moved to Salt Lake City, UT in 1977 to be closer to her family. She got a job at the accounting firm Commerce Systems where she started her 40+ year accounting career. Shortly thereafter Janice met the love of her life, Gordon Zitting.

Never one to sit idle, Janice was an amazing multi-tasker. She could simultaneously watch TV, carry on a thoughtful conversation with someone, and do her accounting, all without forgetting to hang up a batch of laundry when the dryer was finished. If she wasn't at the ten-key pumping out long white paper strips of calculations, she was needlepointing with a yorkie in her lap while watching cable TV.

JJ (AKA Grammy J) doted on and spoiled her many loved ones. She was such a selfless person, always caring for others rarely with a thought to herself. If someone was sick, hospitalized or in trouble, JJ was instantly their fierce advocate and protector. JJ provided a stable home and meals for many of the “starving students” in her extended family as they attended college. She also provided a kind and loving temporary home for those family members who were in-between homes, for whatever the reason.

A loving daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she leaves behind a great legacy and will be missed by so very many. J's family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support.

The viewing will be hosted at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, UT on Friday, January 29th from 6-8 pm. All CDC and local guidelines will be followed so please wear a mask. Please join us virtually on Saturday, January 30th at 11 AM MST for Janice's celebration of life services. Please visit www.larkincares.com to join or to leave a condolence for the family.

An advocate for children and education, donations in J's honor may be sent to Big Brothers/ Big Sisters of America, www.bbbs.org, and Scholarship America, www.scholarshipamerica.org.

So sorry to hear about your grandma. We love you and hope you can be comforted at this time. So glad you joined our family Gabbie. This virus is awful. We were so lucky to get through it at our age.

Madison, Our prayers are with you and your family. I only had the opportunity to speak to you once at Chris’s birthday, but from that one conversation I’ll always remember how lovingly you spoke of your mom and how you loved her living close to you. Our love to you and Don,

Dear Janice, how I so appreciated all the years we were able to work together. Janice was always enthusiastic and upbeat, so enjoyable to be with, and always so knowable and able to handle new issues. I loved the relationship Janice and Gordon had established and her outlook on life. I must admit it was a bit of a challenge when we went to lunch, decision making for a meal was very difficult for Janice.
My sympathy to all the family for loss of a wonderful, bright and uplifting woman, I grew to love Janice as a friend, associate and patient.
Condolences to all, we will miss her.

My deep condolences on losing Janice. What a beautiful human, and such a doer for people. She will surely be blessed by our Creator. We don't find many people like Janice that will help and care for so many. Our God Jehovah has promised us all a resurrection of life everlasting on earth. His book the Bible states in "JOHN 5;28, Do not be alarmed because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice (Jesus) and come out " So we will be seeing Janice in the resurrection. What a wonderful hope, God did not plan for us to die, he loves us and we have that hope. Emily Palmer
