May you rest peacefully in heaven. You will now be able to visit with your family once again. I'm sure we will be able to hear the joyous greetings from Grandma Ruby and Grandpa Charlie once you enter those pearly gates.

Obituary
James Richard Weimer passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on July 11, 2026. He loved his family dearly, and is survived by his loving wife, Linda; three beautiful children: sons Peter (wife, Jaime) and Jason (wife, Kari) Weimer, and daughter Amanda (husband, Tyler) Lee; five amazing grandchildren: Madisen and Paisley Lee, Scarlett and Daemian Weimer, and Lyra Weimer; and family pets: Luna, Sabine, and Tilly.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Irene, as well as his twin brother, John; infant sister, Rebecca; and older brother, Michael.
James and Linda were outdoor enthusiasts and sweethearts, who met at a Girl Scout camp staff recruitment fair at MTSU. The two were married for 43 years that were full of laughter and adventures. They loved teaching their children everything about the outdoors.
Some of his adventures included climbing the Grand Teton, Mount Moran in Wyoming, Devil’s Garden in Baraboo, Wisconsin, Garden of Gods in Colorado. James helped map several caves including part of Mammoth Cave National Park, Cumberland Caverns, and Dunbar Cave.
While at Christian County High School in Hopkinsville, KY, James played trombone and cello. He was the marching band historian, member of the Beta Club, member of the National Honor Society, and president of the Spelunking Club. James attended college at Western Kentucky University where he obtained his B.A. in Outdoor Education and Recreation. While at WKU, he was active in both caving and rock climbing, and was president of Alpha Gamma Rho. He furthered his education by earning a certification in computer programming; and, after being hired by Jordan School District, went on to earn a Masters of Secondary Education.
James worked as a network systems engineer for Jordan School District and a CTE teacher at South Hills and Fort Herriman middle schools. While teaching, he was a grant writer, and obtained significant funding for tech equipment. He retired and worked as a substitute elementary teacher.
James shared his birthday with his beloved twin brother, John. They loved science and everything outdoors. John often assisted his twin brother in his work-related endeavors, such as designing and drawing plans for Girl Scout camp structures that enhanced the camping experience for all. Further, they taught thousands of kids rappelling, rock climbing, camping, and caving. In their retirement years, James and John revisited their childhood hobbies of scale modeling tanks, planes, and rockets. They also cherished their movie and lunch dates on Tuesdays.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23rd, 6:00-8:00 PM, at Larkin Mortuary, 3688 W 12600 S, Riverton, Utah.
James always ensured his students had access to food while at school; so, in keeping with his acts, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the school of your choice to help provide free lunch to those students who need it.
