1981 ~ 2025
Kristin Haynes Parkin, cherished wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandma, and beloved friend, passed away on July 7, 2025, at the age of 43, after a brief but courageous battle with metastatic neuroendocrine carcinoma. More than anything, we will miss her radiant smile and contagious laugh.
Kristin was born on December 6, 1981, in Portland, Oregon. She was blessed to have her parents, Bruce and Marsha Haynes. She joined a loving family that included siblings Stephanie and Jeremy. Just six months later, their younger brother Ryan completed the family of six. Growing up in South Jordan, the Haynes children brought joy, mischief, and unforgettable chaos to their home—memories filled with laughter, love, and adventure. Kristin especially loved family vacations and wakeboarding, and her soft heart and caring nature became defining traits as she grew.
From a young age, Kristin’s musical talent shone brightly. During her middle school years, her angelic voice began to touch the lives of those around her. By the time she graduated from Bingham High School in 2000, she had sung in numerous groups, churches, and venues—always with her dad as her favorite singing partner. Her ability to express deep emotion through music allowed her to share her testimony and her love for Jesus Christ. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many callings, with a special love for working in the Young Women’s organization.
On October 21, 2011, Kristin married her love C. Troy Parkin. They were later sealed in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. Kristin embraced her role as a “boy mom” to Jacob, Christopher, Kyler, Carter, Ryker, Wyatt, and Tucker. She loved every moment spent camping, playing games, watching movies, going to the park, and enjoying life’s simple joys with her family—first in Herriman, then in Sandy. Fiercely devoted to her children, Kristin never hesitated to show her “mama bear” side when it came to protecting or standing up for them. She was fiercely loyal and had a kind and gentle goodness that blessed all who knew her. Her unconditional love had no bounds.
Her grandson, Bridger, brought her immeasurable joy. Kristin had a gift for connecting with others, and she always took the time to listen, laugh, and play with him. Her sharp wit, snarky sense of humor will be those memories that will stay with us forever.
Professionally, Kristin brought the same compassion and care into her work as a medical assistant and later as a clinician. Patients and colleagues alike were touched by her kindness, attentiveness, and welcoming spirit.
Kristin shared her love freely—with her smile, her warmth, and her actions. She had a talent for design, a knack for hosting, and always seemed to find the perfect gift for any occasion. She loved getting her nails done, crafting, and most of all, being with family. Her bravery, optimism, and grace in the face of life’s challenges will remain forever etched in our hearts.
Kristin is survived by her loving husband, Troy, and their sons: Jacob, Christopher, Kyler (Kadi), Carter, Ryker, Wyatt, and Tucker; and her cherished grandson, Bridger. She is also survived by her mother, Marsha Haynes; her siblings Jeremy (Laurie), Stephanie (Eric), and Ryan (Erin); her mother-in-law, Helen Willoughby; and many beloved brothers- and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bruce Haynes; Debbie Parkin Pugmire; Brent Dwayne Parkin Sr.; Fred Willoughby; and her grandparents.
Family meant everything to Kristin, and we express our deep gratitude to her biological family for the precious gift of Kristin in all our lives. Her memory will live on in every note she sang, every laugh she inspired, and every heart she touched.
A viewing will be held on Monday, July 14, from 6:00-8:00 PM at the LDS wardhouse at 89 East 11000 South in Sandy, Utah, and on Tuesday, July 15, from 9:00-10:45 AM. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, July 15, at 11:00 AM at the same location. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road in Sandy, Utah. The funeral will be livestreamed privately with a link to join available upon request to the family.
Troy I am so sorry for your loss she was one of the most kind hearted person I could have ever had in my presence this world will truly miss her sending prayers to your family
My most sincere condolences to Kristin's family. I had the privilege of getting to know Kristin when she was a teenager. She was so spunky and outspoken. And even at an early age, Kristin was a fierce defender of her family which included her extended family. Kristin always greeted me as a family member with a big smile and a bigger hug. One of the very special things about Kristin that I will always remember is that she had a way of making you feel like you were just with her the day before, even if months or years had passed since you had last seen each other. Kristin went out of her way to make sure that you felt comfortable and accepted unconditionally regardless of who you were. I will never forget hearing Kristin sing for the first time, she had one of those voices that could literally bring you to tears. She will be missed deeply by those who were blessed to have known her. Rest easy Kristin, the world is a darker place without you in it but the heavens are certainly brighter.
Kristen was so sweet and caring! The first time we really got to spend time together was when we were there for Kyler and Kadi’s wedding! It was like we had been friends forever! She truly was a precious soul❣️ We are keeping her special family in our thoughts and prayers 🙏❤️🙏 We love you Kyler, Kadi, and Bridger🥰
Last time I saw Kristin was in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple when she was there with her son going on a mission. We threw our arms around each other and hugged and hugged. Tears of joy were shed. It was a happy time probably right before she got sick. But I will remember her as she was that night in the temple and her sweet smile and laugh. I've loved her since she was little and she was a part of our family too. We all will always love and miss her.
Marsha, I am so sorry for your loss. Kristin was so sweet! I enjoyed working with her at the clinic. Sending love and prayers your way ❤️
