Obituary

Lee Hargrave Jones of South Jordan, Utah, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on May 13, 2026, at the age of 70.

She was born on March 7, 1956, to Stanley and Genevieve (Debe) Hargrave in Santa Rosa, California. Lee met her sweetheart, Brian Jones, while he was serving the Lord as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Northern California. After Lee joined the Church, she tracked down her missionary, and the two quickly fell in love. They were married in 1978 in the Salt Lake Temple and shared 48 beautiful years together, on their way to eternity.

Lee loved her Savior with all her heart. She loved camping at Pole Creek with Brian and her kids, gardening and seeing her yard full of beautiful flowers, traveling, worshipping in the temple, and spending time with her 18 beloved grandchildren, who were among the great treasures of her life. She loved her family fiercely and would travel to visit them any chance she could.

Lee loved to cook, and her famous Swedish Twists were well known. Her memory will live on every Christmas morning in many of her sons’ homes as they carry that tradition forward with their own families. Early on, she spent countless hours driving her boys to practices, games, school events, and every place they needed to be, happy to serve from behind the wheel as a true “soccer mom.” In later years, her activity was limited by debilitating disease, yet she continued to love and serve in every way she could.

Lee had a tender heart, the most beautiful smile, and the best laugh. Her husband, Brian, always knew how to make her laugh. She loved and was loved by her many dear friends, wonderful neighbors, and all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Brian; her sons, Daniel (Kira), Brad (Keeli), Spencer (Nancy), and Matthew (JayDee); her twin sister, Lyn; her brother, Neil; and her 18 grandchildren, who will miss their Gma Lee.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ward building located at 2550 W 9800 S in South Jordan, Utah.

Interment will follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens, located at 1950 E Dimple Dell Road (10600 S), Sandy, Utah.

Tributes

Lee has been a best and loyal friend ever since we met in 1990 in our West Jordan neighborhood. She was my encouraging walking buddy as we shared our hopes and dreams with each other.we served together and played together and became close friends. The sad day for me was when we had to move, but Lee and I remained close friends though our opportunities to be together became less often. The beauty of being friends with Lee was that we could pick up right where we left off with love and friendship continuing. The times spent with Lee have always been uplifting . From my experience Lee would do anything for you if she could! She will always be dear to me. I feel our friendship is eternal and I will miss this selfless beautiful lady with all my heart! Until we meet again my dear friend!
Love you, Janet Rust

Oh LeeLee
You left me too soon!💔
You were the pioneer who left Santa Rosa for BYU. I am so glad you found Brian and eventually led me to the Church.
Now again you are our Pioneer leading the way to heaven!

My dear Lee we became friends over fifty years ago. Our boys growing up had many memorable family outings together. The ocean at Salmon Creek and the swimming pool on the Henderson hill immediately come to mind. Family and friends will always keep you close in mind and heart. Rest in the peace of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

I am so sorry for the loss of your mother, sister, and grandmother, Lee. It’s been many years since I have had contact with her but childhood friends are cherished memories.

I'm the oldest Colton cousin...and I may have been 9-ish at the time...but I'll never forget how cute you twins were in your hula skirt picture! You being in Hawaii seemed so exotic! And I could never tell you apart! How lucky you were to have each other as sisters, not to mention being twins! You will always have that spiritual connection, and she's with you now, Lyn, as well as with her family...always...wishing love and peace to you all...Linda

I knew Lee when she lived with her parents. Her mom and mine were sisters.
I didn’t suspect she was unhappy, though she was sometimes stern.

We moved to New Mexico in 1983 to raise our family. I saw Lee’s parents twice, since we moved. I was glad to learn about her married life and extended family.

I was so saddened to hear of her passing. Even though many years had gone by since we had really spent time together, I always carried a very special love for her in my heart. She was always so kind to me.
One of my sweetest memories was sitting and talking with her at Connor's baptism. We laughed, visited, and enjoyed each other's company as though all the years between us had simply washed away. That time together has always stayed with me.
She had such a gentle and caring spirit, and I will always remember her with love. My heart also goes out to Lynn, because I know the bond between twin sisters is deep and very special.
With much love, Erna
