Our dear sister, aunt, friend, cousin, neighbor, and co-worker, Margaret Verna Drechsel, joined our parents and grandparents on February 12, 2026 following a brief illness. What a glorious reunion! How we love and miss the bright light she brought into each of our lives. Now she can share her light in heaven.
Margaret was born on January 17, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Our family was so excited to meet her, and she has brought joy to our lives ever since. Get-togethers will never be quite the same without her beautiful smile and jovial laughter.
She spent a good part of her life serving other people and doing her best to make them happy. Margaret had a kind and generous heart and gave freely to others in need. She took pride in doing things well. A great organizer and planner, Margaret, let people know they were important to her. She worked at The Boyer Company, then at Nordstrom in Salt Lake, Oregon, and California for 26 years, mostly in customer service. She was subsequently employed at American Research Bureau.
Margaret was a true disciple of Jesus Christ. She treated everyone with respect, even when their beliefs were different from her own. She loved her Savior and did the spiritual work necessary to have a personal relationship with Him. She appreciated all who served her and was so grateful to each one.
Our family would like to express our deepest appreciation to those that helped Margaret during the last two months of her life.
She is survived by her brother, Stephen Drechsel (Meredith); her sisters, Katherine Allen (Calvin), Marianne Jacobsen (Dennis), Nancy Lynn (Grant), Caroline Spencer (Chip), and Joanne Udy (Kenneth); and her 32 nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Friday, February 27 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Brookshire Ward (3487 South 1300 East). Funeral services will be held at the same location on Saturday, February 28 at 11:00am with a viewing prior, from 9:45-10:45am.

I had the opportunity to work with Margaret at Nordstrom. I was the Ogden CS manager, she was the Salt Lake CS manager. She was always so willing to help me whenever I had questions. She treated me with love and respect and was she was smiling. I've thought of her often and how blessed I was to know her. She's dancing with the angels❤️
I loved working with Margaret. She always treated me and my family with the utmost kindness. While I cannot participate in the memorial proceedings in person, I will be remembering her while on tour with the tabernacle choir in Brazil, a place I know that she loved. My deepest condolences to family and friends.
I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Margaret until her retirement. Margaret was a true friend and kind spirit. She took every opportunity to uplift those around her. She always made me feel special and was always quick to compliment and highlight qualities she recognized in me. Margaret was an angel for me while I was losing my dad to cancer and was always a listening ear. I have never met anyone quite like Margaret and I will miss her dearly. She is someone I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
The world will not be the same without her. She was a light for all of us. She had a gift to love people, and spread happiness wherever she went. Having a conversation with her was always a rich and rewarding experience, so wise and caring and with a terrific sense of humor. Thank you Margaret for making my life a little richer. Until we meet again, TLOML!

Sending love and prayers to the family. I worked wirhvMargaret at Nordstrom Crossroads Mall when she was the Customer Service Manager. I have fond memories of our conversations in the Cafe and we later reconnected in No Cal, both still working for Nordsttom. We will truly missbyou Margaret!
Margaret always made me smile and laugh out loud with her uplifting spirit and outrageous sense of humor. It has been years since we worked on church stuff.
Much Love to her wonderful family and prayers for comfort during this difficult time.
I had the wonderful opportunity to work with and come to know, "Miss Margaret" (as I would address her). She welcomed me on Day One and always offered her genuine support, friendship and comedic rhetoric that made the day:). My sister, Rachel, also speaks highly of her in that she had the opportunity to know and work with her at Nordstroms. We both send our sincere condolences at this time, but also celebrate her release from pain and her return Home with honor. Thank you, Miss Margaret - for blessing my sister & I, the experience and testimony of you.
Margaret was a great co worker. She was loyal, energetic, had a positive attitude and was kind to everyone here at work. I'm sad to hear of her passing so soon. Condolences to the family and friends.
Margaret always greeted me with ‘Hello lovely,’ and it lifted my heart every single time. She was a warm hug of a person — kind, joyful, and full of light. I will forever cherish the memories we shared.
One of my fondest memories is the girls’ weekend we spent together with Stephanie Anderson when she lived near San Francisco. We laughed through the whole weekend, and thinking of it still makes me smile. I miss her.
The photo of her in her convertible is perfect — so happy and carefree. She even inspired my husband to get one, and we'd start each ride with a smile and a ‘Thank you, Margaret!’
My deepest condolences to her family and everyone who loved her.

Many of us in the Brookshire Ward knew Margaret’s sister, Caroline, first but when Margaret returned to Utah, you could feel the joy of two sisters being reunited to share many daily activities with family, friends and others. Margaret brought the same level of kindness and wisdom that we’d come to expect from Caroline. They functioned like two beautifully fitted elegant gloves. Their mother raised some exceedingly kind and wise Christlike daughters. But Margaret was unique and could easily teach a master class on how to make and maintain lifelong friends. She was a true disciple of Jesus Christ. To know Margaret was to feel elevated and encouraged to do more and gain a stronger testimony of Jesus Christ. The final lyrics in “Wicked” say it best: “But because I knew you, I have been changed for good.”
Margaret was an endeared friend to me for many years. Accepting, kind, funny and fully genuine. Although we had not had the opportunity to be in touch in recent years- I will always treasure our times spent (I have stories!) and carry her memory in my heart always. Luv ya, Margaret.
Although our acquaintance was brief, we were so delighted to have Margaret join our leadership team to produce TedX Livermore in 2014. She brought such light and good energy all of us have continued to miss her ever since!
It was my pleasure to have worked with Margaret at Nordstrom for many years. I can't think of another who has touched and inspired so many people. Margaret had "the gift" - always the consummate teacher, servant leader, diplomat, peacekeeper, and inspiring person. She made me want to do better, do more, be a better person. She had the gift of bringing people together and making them feel special, important and valued. She treated people fairly and with compassion. She once invited a group of us to her home, made dinner for us and then took us all to the ballet. A ballet?! I'd never been to one ever!
Margaret often greeted her friends with "Hello Miss Lovely". I can hear it now. Hello Margaret.
She did this thing with her hands where she would bring her fingers together (crossed them) and would say - "we need to get to this". "This" being togetherness. She did this a lot at work! Ha!
Margaret's superpower was bringing people together and making you feel special.
It was my privilege to be your friend Miss Lovely.
My most heartfelt condolences to your family and friends everywhere. Much love to you.

Thank you for the light you put out into the world!
I didn't know Margaret but I know 3 of her sisters - Katherine, Nancy and Caroline. The funeral was very lovely and uplifting. I got a sense what she was like after all the talks, just like her sisters. My condolences to all of the family. Sincerely Janice Jones
I was so disappointed to miss the funeral and not express my love and joy that Margaret has been in my life since we were kids. Thinking of all the days gone by with so many wonderful memories brings happiness to me. Life is meant to be lived with joy and love and Margaret certainly achieved that as well as being a great example. Love you girlfriend till we meet again.
I was lucky enough to work with Margaret at ARB. She was such a gracious person and always went out of her way to make her colleagues feel seen and valued. I have missed her presence at ARB since her retirement and will miss her even more so now. My condolences to her family, she was one of a kind.
