Vickie Kay Shelton Joy, eighty-three, passed away March 2nd, 2025, peacefully. She was born May 07, 1941, to Ruby Garrett Shelton and Paul Shelton in Salt Lake City Utah.
She attended high school at South High in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married her high school sweetheart, John Richard Joy, “The Big Guy.” They spent fifty-five wonderful, caring years together and lived life to the fullest.
Vickie was an extremely giving person who opened her heart and home to everyone. A beautiful woman, now free from physical and mental constraints. Vickie taught us all how to laugh and love unconditionally. A bonus mother and grandmother to so many. Her spunky happiness told all that met her just how much she absolutely loved them. An absolute angel on earth. Vickie will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her four children, Christine Arthur (Raymond), Stacie Brown (Kendall), Brian Joy (Debbie) and Jason Thomas Joy, eight grandchildren, and six great grandchildren and her brother Curt (Jan) Shelton and sister Kim Ahlstrom.
Preceded in death by her husband John Joy and her mother Ruby Garrett Shelton and stepmother Darlene and father Paul Shelton, her sisters Claudia and Carol and brother Richard Shelton and great grandson Tito Lozano.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff at BeeHive Home for all their loving care and also the compassionate team at Active Home Health and Hospice for the exceptional care and support provided to Vickie during her final days.
There will be a visitation from 12:30 to 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm.

Guestbook/Condolences
As far back as I can remember, Vickie has been a bright light in my life! She taught me how to how to enjoy my life and make a place for family and friends. Our parents taught us how to respect everyone around us and take care of them. That is where Vickie excelled! She loved her family and I watched her children love her back and take care of her in times of need.
She was always someone that I could look up to and put a smile on my face! Vickie... we will miss you for the rest of our lives and will look forward to seeing you and the rest of the family on the other side of the veil, where I'm sure you will be setting up the welcome home party! May the Lord bless and keep your family here safe and well, until we meet again.
Best Mother in-law ever!!!!!
Love you and miss you Vic!

Me and Vicki been friends for many years. She always called her little sister and my big sister we work at Oc Tanner’s together. We golf together with Erma and we had a lot of fun. I will treasure those memories forever.
She moved to Ivan‘s and then we started going down to see her and Jerry and I we had so much fun with a big guy Richard. We did a lot of partying. 🍻🍻🍻🎉We had many friends down there. I loved it when her and I always went and got our hats together here in Salt Lake up in Park city we got a red one a blue one and a black one together we loved our red hat so much. Not to mention those red cowboy boots.🕊️🕊️🕊️🙏🏻🙏🏻
Every time we went down there her and Dick were the best host. They always made sure you had plenty to eat and always wanted to party. Dick made sure that he called everyone to come and party Jerry & Jeannie are let party 🎉 time.
And then we used to go over to Kathy Mogensen‘s and Dick would carry Lisa on his back to Harold’s house and we would party there. That was the funniest thing Kenny and Lisa and Jasmyn loved big guy so much. They took good care of them too, and not to mention how many others came down to visit them to wonderful people.
I could go on and on tell a lot of stories about both of them but now it’s time to tell him rest in peace and keep dancing together with old red boots Vicki and red cowboy hat. We love you dearly. We will miss you until we meet again.
