Muslim funeral services in Utah

Ghusl, kafan, janazah, and burial — arranged quickly, with the imam and the community leading every religious act.

The day follows your tradition

An Islamic funeral is meant to be simple and prompt. The washing, the shrouding, the janazah prayer, and the burial belong to the family and the mosque. Larkin is the funeral home that clears the way: a private room, a short timeline, transportation, and a cemetery plan your imam can accept.

We serve Muslim families in Salt Lake City and across northern Utah. Call as soon as a death occurs, any hour. The sooner we know, the sooner burial can happen.

How we support an Islamic burial

We do not perform the rites. We make it possible for your community to perform them.

Ghusl in private

Washing is done by family or by members of the mosque, following your community's practice about who may be present. We provide a private room and water, and then we step out.

Kafan, not a display

Burial is in a plain white shroud. Many families bring the kafan themselves. If you need help getting one, ask us. We do not turn the day into a viewing or a public presentation of the body.

Janazah and the grave

The funeral prayer is usually at the mosque or at the cemetery. We transport to whichever place the imam names, and we orient the burial as the imam directs. Men and women attend according to your community's practice, not according to ours.

No embalming, no cremation

Embalming is avoided unless a rare legal need arises and the imam agrees. Cremation is not part of Islamic burial, and we will not offer it. If a cemetery requires an outer container, we work with the cemetery and the imam so the requirement and the sunnah are both addressed.

What we take off the family's list

  • An immediate answer when you call, including nights and weekends.
  • A private room for ghusl, with time enough that the washing is not hurried by our schedule.
  • Transportation to the mosque and the cemetery the same day whenever that is possible.
  • A cemetery conversation that starts from burial, not from a package of add-ons.

Where the service can be held

Janazah is at your mosque or at the grave. Our chapels are available only if the imam wants them. The religious gathering is the community's.

Questions families ask

Can Larkin help with a Muslim funeral in Salt Lake City?

Yes. We help Muslim families arrange ghusl, kafan, transportation for janazah, and burial. The imam and the mosque lead the rites.

How quickly can burial happen?

Call (801) 363-5781 as soon as someone dies. We start immediately and work toward burial as soon as the family, the mosque, and the cemetery can meet.

Do you offer cremation for Muslim families?

No. Islamic burial is burial. We do not suggest cremation.

Can women and men be accommodated as our mosque requires?

Yes. Tell us your community's practice for the washing, the janazah, and the grave. We follow that, including who is in the room.

Any hour

Tell us what your faith requires.

Call, including in the middle of the night. We will ask what your clergy and your family need, and we will arrange the day around that.
